March 10, 1993 - The Pyramid - Page Three NOTICE OF SPECIAL BOND ELECTION from the Representatives Lions Club informed the council that they have raised about $9,000 toward renovating the old gymnasium for a recreation hall. The city had promised to match any funds raised. A $14,000 to $18,000 random estimate was made for the renovation, which includes a concrete floor, insulation, lights and two gas furnaces. The city will obtain services of an architect to draw up a set of plans which will meet codes and ensure structural integrity. He will also be asked to design a park for the entire city hall block which is to include a bowery, swings, horseshoe pits and tennis court, as well as the existing ball diamond. Mayor Christensen would like to have the park finished in time for the July 24 celebration and plans to have all subsequent celebrations based around the park. , , !
