Show Charles W. Averett Diss at Ogden Word was received here Saturday Satur-day of the death in Ogden that morning of Charles W. Averett, formerly of this city, from heart j failure. Mr. Averett was born in this city February 26, 1862, a son of, Charles Washington and Elizabeth Ccates Averett. He was married to Mary Christensen, Chris-tensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Christensen, pioneers of 1 this city, October 1, 1886. He was prominent in the Democratic Demo-cratic party and served several terms as City Marshal here. The family moved to Ogden in 1918 where Mr. Averett was an employee of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company for fourteen years, resigning two years ago on account of ill health. He had been confined to his home since last December. He was a member of the local Liberty Camp No. 455 Woodmen of the World. : Surviving are his widow and the following -children: Charles F., Jay and Lloyd Averett, Mrs. John D. Buswell, Mrs. John M. Vance, Mrs. James B. Marberger, all of Ogden; Mrs. John Farris, San Francisco; Thomas Averett, Latuda; twenty-three twenty-three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Annie Lake, . Castle Dale, Utah; (our brothers, William Averett, Mt. Pleasant; John Averett, Emmett, Idaho; Frank Averett, Idaho FalU Idaho; James Averett, Clear Creek, Utah Funeral services for Mr. Averett were held in the South ward chapel chap-el Tuesday at 1 o'clock with Bishop A. L. Peterson in charge. The prayers were pronounced by P. A. Peel and Christian Johansen. Arthur O. Nielson, Thomas Bra-by, Bra-by, L. P. Nelson and Bishop Henry P. Olson were the speakers. Vocal solos were rendered by Mrs. Obed Nelson who sang "Tired" and Mrs. Thomas W. Jensen whe sang "Lay My Head Beneath The Rose." The grave was dedicated by Mads Audenon. |
