Show FORMER IDAHO GOVERNOR DIES FATHER-IN-LAW OF SENATOR WILLIAM E. BORAH ANSWERS CALL AT MOSCOW HOME Was Governor of Gem State During Early Dy; Represented State A Senator When State Joined Union Moscow. Ida William J. McCon-nell. McCon-nell. former governor of Idaho and father-in-law of I'uited States Sena- tor William E. Borah, died at his home here at the age of 85 years. He had complained of not feeling well ten days ago. Mr. McConnell went to Boise in 1S63 from Oregon. Later he returned return-ed to that state, and in 1882 was presi-ident presi-ident of the Oregon state senate, lie was governor of Idaho from 1S9H to 1S96, and United SI ales senator from Idaho for three months in 1890, when the state was admitted to the Union. At the time of his death he whs United States immigration inspector at Moscow. He was horn in Commerce. Mich., and married Louise Brown m Yamhill. Yam-hill. Ore., in 1S6. Besides his widow and Mrs. Borah, he is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Ben Bush of Moscow and Mrs. Max Lindernian of Portland. Ore., and a son, William, of Sacramento, Cal. He was the author au-thor of a history of the slate of Idaho and of "Episodes of Pioneer Life." |
