Show 76th Birthday of Mount Pleasant Pioneer Mother To Be Observed Sunday Sunday, May 13, will be the 76th birthday of a noble Mt. Pleasant Pioneer mother, Mrs. Camilla E. Noland, who was born In Copenhagen, Copen-hagen, Denmark, the daughter of Lars and Berte Marie Peterson Ericksen, on May 13, 1858. Whrn she w-s scarcely twr years old, her parents immigrated to Utah making the voyage across the rriigh Atlantic In EPilboat and the trek across the American plains by oxen and cart, In the springtime of 1831, Camilla, Camil-la, then only tnree years old, came j to Mt. Pleasant. She remembers vividly days in the Old Port, Indi-an Indi-an troubles, "dug out" Pioneer homes and school days under the tutorship of William Morrison and Peter Miller. around the warmth of an open fireplace, fire-place, with the "big boys" often roasting potatoes on the old-fash-loed hearth while the A. B. C.'s were being learned. Hruvest time, gleaning in the fields and scythe harvesting is a E'f-viiig memory to hei. Later in young womanhood the dances gay and ietove she enjoyr-d with "th? cr'-vr" to the music of the acccra-ian acccra-ian Long winters, cold tmd with much snow provided bob sleigh riding. When only thirteen years old she left Mt. Pleasatn to find employment employ-ment in what was then the small village of Salt Lake City. Prom this early age she .was entirety self-supporting and also did much to help the family at home. On the 23rd of May, 1880, she married William J. Noland of Cleveland, Cleve-land, Ohio. Five children were born to this union, Mrs. Elma N. Schneider of Salt Lake. City being her only living child at present. When Tina Morrison Ericksen passed away Mrs. Noland took her baby daughter Tina to care for and has been a true mother to her. For 37 years she has been a widow wid-ow and yet has raised her family in a successful way. She has 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. grand-children. Among her many friends she is admired for her kind disposition. Entertaining in her honor, Mrs. Obed Nelscn and Mrs. J. R.
