Show Mrs. Johnson Celebrates Birthday Saturday Mrs Maria Sorensen Johnsen of "ml Peasant was honod by a host of relatives and fnends last Saturday at the iamV home in celebration of her ninety-first birthday. Mrs. Johnsen is a memter of a pioneer family which joined the Church of Jesus Christ ot Latter-day Saints in DenmarK, and emigrated to Utah ml. She was born May 21, 185b m Tjornemark, Denmark, a daugh ter of Niels and Elsie Maria Petersen Pe-tersen Sorensen. Her mothei died during the Jong trek across the plains, but the. father and i throe children continued on to Mt. Pleasant, where Mrs. John sen has resided for 83 years. She is a member of the Daugh. ters of Utah Pioneers and was a Relief society visiting teacher m the North ward for nearly 51 years. She was married March 61, 1878 to Sophus Johnsen, a native of Copenhagen. He died O t. .4. 1929 and their only son, William Johnsen died several years ago. She has three daughters, Mrs. Henrietta J. Snow, Midvale; Mrs. Emma J. McComb, ML Pleasant and Mrs. Myrtle J. Jensen, Axtell; 12 grandchildren: 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren |
