Show CITY COUNCIL HOLDS SPECIAL MEETING. The City Council met at a special I : meeting Saturday evening the 29th. I which was called for the purpose j i of hearing all protests and objections j relative to the proposed paving of . of the. district known as "Sidewalk! Paving District No. 6" wherein itj ' was proposed to construct a cement i sidewalk four feet in width on I the West side of Second West Street j from Main Street to Fifth South j Street and .the North side of Third j South Street from the East side of j State Street to the West side of j Fifth West Street. There were protests made f com ! people owning property along the i proposed paving district to the amount of 2509 feet. The total amount to be paved is 4290 feet. It ; requires two thirds of the whole dis- i trict to protest against it in order to stop the proposed pavement. There are a few old people along this district that would be affected by the tax and some of the citizens have already offered to tend some assistance in helping the work along If the pavement is laid in this district dis-trict it will make a connecting link in the South West part of the city so that nearly every one in that part will be able to have the use of the pavement. One man has already offered of-fered ten dollors towards the expense ex-pense and if the people living in this part of the city would unite together to-gether in helping a little the burden would not affect the older ones so much. It will be fully decided at the next meeting on Saturday July 6th as to what will be done regarding the pavement. |
