Show DEATH CLAIMS MERCHANT OF DAVIS COUNTY jonathan D wood 87 a pioneer of 1855 one of the oldest residents and a prominent merchant in davis county for more than 60 years died i in a salt lake city hospital bues tues j day following an operation coming to davis county in 1855 shortly after his arrival from england with his par parents ants mr wood had been active in civic business and religious activities of the county until a year ago when he retired because of ill health ile he was in the mercantile business and had served as a deputy sheriff justice of the peace for 13 years and farmington city sexton for 25 years he was a councellor counce lor in the L D S bishopric in 1881 and later served ed on the south davis stake high council born in brighton sussex england I 1 april 29 1849 a son of john and fannie gobble wood he came to utah in 1855 ile he married blanch bird I 1 in it the salt lake city L D S endowment house on october 9 1870 and later married euza eliza hess surviving are seven daughters mrs elizabeth whitaker mrs gladys wood robinson and miss afton wood farmington mrs lillian brabham city mrs geneva richards richarc IS fielding mrs allee alice wilkinson Wl lkinson peterson and mrs oora dora wood checketts Check ettz providence nine sons edward A and clifton wood farmington frank david charles and willard wood fielding kenneth wood ogden arid and herman L wood salt I 1 lake a k e city 75 grandchildren 35 great grandchildren arid and 5 great great grandchildren funeral services were conducted in the farmington L D S ward vard chapel sunday at 1 pm |
