Show echo dam work pushed during august work on the construction of echo dam during the month of august was centered largely around the placing of the operating gates and nd other mechanism according to the monthly report of construction engineer P F F smith in addition the forces of A guthrie and co contractors employed on the finishing up of the rock paving on the front and back sides of the dam pouring concrete in the emergency gate chamber and installation of oil piping and electrical conductors the contractor had employed on this work a dally daily average ot of 67 men and two head of stock there being 81 men on the payroll at the close of the month due to the heavy rains during the latter part of july and the early portion of august acra acre feet additional dit ional storage had accumulated in I 1 I 1 I 1 the reservoir and the temporary gates installed by the water users association to provide storage for this season were still in operation at the end of the month As soon as this storage has been drawn off the hydraulic hoists will be moved from the tower an and a pl placed aced on the emergency gates and the temporary tower removed from the tunnel intake the work of clearing the echo reservoir site which has been under contract with the heiselt construe construction company was completed during the month having been held up on account of the temporary water storage in the reservoir the contractor tractor is now loading out his machinery and stork stock for or california where he will be engaged on part of the construction of the keddle cut oc tor for the southern pacific rall railroad mad weather conditions were favorable tor for the work on the weber provo diversion canal at kamas and S H newell co who have the contract for this work employed an average force of about 85 men and 16 head of stork stock on this section of the project the excavation for the diversion dam near oakley was started about the middle of the month and concrete work will be started during se september p t arri ber on this structure the work v ork on th edam will be carried forward as rapidly as possible in order that it may be completed before cold weather sets in |
