He had just returned home after serving a 21 month mission in Honduras, Centra America. In his talk, John reported that 80 percent of the people of Honduras are Central American Indians and 20 percent are Spanish. Their main industry is agriculture. They raise mostly beans and rice, which are the two principal staples in their diet, except for those who live along the coast, where fish is available. John said the missionaries go to the coast only occasionally, so they had to endure the bean and rice diet and watch the pounds slip away. John came home much thinner than when he left. Administrator Day presented an amendment and resolution to adjust the UAMPS power sales contract to reflect changes in entitlement shares and provide for future power payments in advance of the use. Motion to adopt the resolution approving the amendment carried unanimously. The Council then returned to the matter of increasing power rates. The rate study prepared by ICPA indicated that the Public Service Commission recently ordered Utah Power and Light to rearrange its rates in order to collect less from residential customers and more from industrial, less from small customers and more from large. Utah Power and Light's new structure flattens and simplifies the rates.
