Is it to hassel the youth? Is it to place unnecessary restraints on our young peoI can say ple in the community? without hesitation that the law has been adopted for the benefit of juvenile as well as the community at large The fact is that most criminal incident involving juveniles as the such specified hours in which event such minor person shall obtain a permit from the Chief of Police to be upon the streets alleys or public places during such The question has been asked What constitutes a “guardian” or other having legal custody? According to Black’s Law dictionary a guardian “is a person lawfully invested with the power and charged with the duty or taking care of the person and managing the property and rights of another peThis does not include a boyfriend or girlfriend who is of age and may be accompanying a juvenile I think the key term is “legal custody” “Legal Custody” is determined be the courts However I am not advocating that all juveniles will be cited for curfew violation if they are with a brother hours” perpetrator as well as the victim occur in the late evening and early morning hours The law then intends to provide for the general welfare of both the juvenile and public at large by deterring criminal activity and preventing victimization Our intent as police officers is to protect the people and their porperty We are here to advise counsel warn educate and encourage safety precautionary measures and finally to enforce the laws which society has assigned to rson” MEA Credit Union Higher Than Market Rates On Certificates Charles Joseph Thomas Charles Joseph (Charlie) Thomas 1896 in was born Januay 23 Willowsprings Illinois The first of five children his father was killed when he was 8 years old He drove teams of horses from the time he was 11 years old to help support his family He served in the Army during World War I and came to Delta at the end of the war in 1919 He arrived in Delta with two other men still wearing their Army uniforms He had a job driving teams for the DA Folley construction company Mr Folley had a contract to lay 600 miles of tile and build 60 miles of open drain They used the old fashioned draglines and drained the area of Millard County He met his wife Verda Oppenheimer here and they are the parents of ten children Charlie farmed and struggled along with everyone else during the depression Since then he has continued farming and has worked for many farmers throughout the West Millard area Since his retirement he has lived in Delta where he enjoys the close association of his many friends and his family He’s well known for his sense humor and his love of people of our responsibilities Generally the purpose of any law is to provide for the safety and general welfare of society at large It is not to restrict infringe upon or hinder a persons freedom to choose Judge for yourself Can you think of any criminal code law which if violated does not harm or potentially violate the safety or rights of another person? For example driving under the influence of alcohol Did you know that one half of all traffic accident related deaths are also alcohol related? Lets take a “less serious” traffic offense How about running a stop sign Although it may appear less serious this same violation has been responsible for several millions of dollars in property damage personal injury and death You don’t hear the term very often anymore At one time it was generally used for law enforcement officers I think it still describes our role most Do precisely “PEACE OFFICER” you remember it? It may sound vaguely familiar I like it because in the final analysis that’s what it’s all about a Keeping peace and facilitating peaceful repoir between people and encouraging respect for the rights of all people as outlined by the political philosophy and government of our country We encourage anyone who is terested in presenting issues and questions to write to the Delta Police Department or just call us It may serve as a good topic for our PACT article The first railroad wooden tracks In order to meet the present steady demand for loan money we will be offering during the next several weeks significantly higher than market rates on all of our certificates of deposit and IRA accounts in America had Hflarf Cecity The Chronicle Prepress USPS tMwillnaiiMtMMM WW MWI Publisher - I Susan fHHr Editor Dutsoa Editorial arton $1000000 minimum certificate APR with a 6 month maturity and AS AN EXAMPLE: will pay 1200 75 APR with a 12 month maturity 1 1 Managmg Amott fmort Ednoc Reporter at large Advertising Dirt to Production Dean Athbrooh i Drepi - Sale Maiet FAmor Office Manager Orb Greathouse Account RerehraM tvehro Wood RJry We offer many types of certificates Check with us before you purchase or renew your certificates of depost legal Ae CeculaOon'Comp Commercial Printing Jane IrtWirii trf ri tinmtr 2 00 M00x-r- t couUy tar MMMamnr! pear We also pay 7 APR on regular savings accounts and 6 APR on share draft accounts (checking) RAng Circulation Bard Wr nH rSnyi Carr 25 POSTMASTM WW A44 rtn O Iot 29 Drtu Utah f tin ur tni Par to m trirn MM Drtu tMMWMlM MtSHarMU Fillmore Office: 44 Sooth Delta Office Firtt West Fillmore Utah 84631 109 South 3rd East Delta Utah 84624 Phone: Phone: 743 6545 8644411 Cwx Plants couru Man I rvrion mimm W otr0 v urn ton |
