Lillian Rogers had a thrilling experience last week in Salt Lake City where she went for the purpose of being with two couples from Missippi her former mission area as they went through the Salt Lake Temple for their first time These couples had been reactivated by a missionary couple who followed Vic and Lillian Not knowing the exact day they were to go through the temple it took three days to find t the third day was “the charm” She had the privilege of escorting one of the sisters while the other sister was escorted by the wife of the other missionary couple It was the first time any of them had been to Salt Lake City They were thrilled with everything they saw While in the city Lillian also stayed with and visited her son John wife Kathryn Ann and family She also visited a very dear friend also from England who had been Lillian’s Sunday School teacher years ago Scheduled for the big Kanosh 24th celebration at 7:55 am flag raising 8 am parade and at 9 am auction Dinner will be served Zi hour after the auction Bring your own dishes Tickets are $20 for family adults $5 and children $3 Games will follow the dinner On June 26 Arthella Taylor went to St George to attend her grandson’s wedding Danny Beacham and Kim Ekins were married June 26 at the St George Temple The morning of the wedding the family attended a wedding breakfast in New Castle Saturday was held in evening a reception Sutherland at the LDS Ward Chapel is of son the Beckham George Danny and Carma Beacham of New Castle UT Sunday morning June 26 the family group all came to Fillmore where they spent the day celebrating at the home of Arthela Taylor Those attending the wedding were New George and Carma Beacham Castle and their three sons Brent Bill and Nancy and Nathan George Beacham of Michigan and their daughter Rebekka Layne and Vicky Beacham New Castle Diana Allred and her children Sally and Dale of Salt Lake City Fern Cox and her daughter Melanie of New Castle Arthela Taylor had a busy July 4 weekend entertaining members of her family They were Dewey and Karen Olds and their 2 children Merideth and Wesley of Mass Sally Allred of Salt Lake City Kevin Olds Provo Kay and Anette Neilsen and 3 boys Richard Almy and Robert of Salt Lake City Sheran and Gladys Tolbert and Verl and Judy Tolbert of Abraham good time They all had a and Arthela was left with many sweet memories of July 4 1987 Paul and Dorothy Beckham had a firecracker good time two weeks prior to July 4 Dorothy’s sister Alice her Herschel Moore of Shell husband Knob MO and her brother Timothy Chapman and his son Tim of Wellsville KS all arrived in Fillmore June 21 and spent a couple of weeks at the home of Paul and Dorothy Beckham While they were here they drove south to Panguitch on to Cedar Breaks coming home through Cedar where they stopped and had a picnic lunch at the beautiful Cedar Park after which they toured the Iron County Museum Guests of Norma Paxton recently have been her brandson Gail wife Lois and their children Wade and Madison Ann The Timberline Leadership Training at Maple Hollow in Holden Canyon as very successful and July beneficial to those in attendance Those from Kanosh who participated are as follows: Lynn Parkins as Scoutmaster Wade Perkins as Senior Patrol Leader and David Whitaker as Quartermaster These three fellows were among the 15 members of the staff over the boys From July Scott Perkins Jared Higgs and Jared Whatcott were three of the 45 participants in the group Among the visitors at church services in the Kanosh Ward on Sunday July 12 was Marvin Black a former resident of Kanosh He was a guest of Nina Black Millard High Classmates from the class of 1937 held their reunion at the Paradise Inn on July 3 The evening After was spent was Jack in the Utah Valley Hospital Monroe brought a card for all of us to sign for Hal We hope he will soon be able to come home Plans were discussed to have another reunion in 5 years We’ll look farewell for Jeff Beckstrand The program was outstanding and enjoyed as well as fun visiting and a delicious meal served them after the meeting Carlene and Robert Beckstrand and children spent part of Father’s Day with her parents Jay and Ranae Ainge in Spanish Fork Monica Lisa Shad and Kyle remained and enjoyed a and longer visit with grandparents Aunt Nita and Aunt Susie and their children They stayed with them while Carlene the young accompanied women to girls’ camp along with the other camp leader Diane Talbot Hal and Jolynn Beckstrand and four children spent five days over the 4th of July weekend with their parents Harold and NaDean Beckstrand and brothers Carlene and at Meadow Robert children joined in the visiting with them On Tuesday goodbyes were said as the family is moving to Newark Delaware where Hall has employment in the business department of American On July 9 Richard Super Stores Harold and NaDean joined Marilyn DeVries and 2 daughters at the airport in Salt Lake for a couple of hours visiting with the Beckstrands before their departure Mrs Kerry DeVries and five children spent the weekend in Meadow with Marilyn’s parents Harold and NaDean Beckstrand and their family They came to enjoy the Beckstrand reunion Kerry Robert Richard and Don missed the reunion festivities to do a special project at Robert and Carlene’s home Their days work produced a beautiful stone wall and hearth in their family room This will be greatly enjoyed by the family Orrin Beckstrand was at his home in Meadow with his children Mrs BJ Beckstrand and family and Mrs Kent Thompson and family Melvin and Edith Cox and their daughter Jolynn and husband Gayle Warner and their children were at their home in Meadow These families came to attend the Beckstrand reunion also Mark Mrs Two new boxes of books arrived this week for the kids They contain a set of four new books about dinosaurs — try to beat Jed Jensen to them-dare you! He reads anything and everything about dinosaurs but he does bring them back for the rest of the children Another set of 12 books is called “What Happens When You: Breathe? Catch a Cold? Eat? Grow? Hurt Yourself? Listen? Look? Run? Sleep? Talk? Think? and Touch and Feel?” These are terrific books for learning about the functions of their own bodies and what they can do Of course there are fun books too like: “Who Wants Arthur?” Arthur is a brown dog in the pet shop whom These new nobody books are beautifully illustrated and attractively bound and we hope they will last for a long time The bulk of our first purchases this year are going
