The present operating plan of the prison appears desirable with local control and it is enticing because of the promises given to and the officials City County placate who in turn seek for support from the citizens who has ever Anyone worked with a State or Federal Agency knows that the only thing that is constant is change How will policy changes in the future affect us? 6 This Prison Facility is not a taxable industry Are we willing to substitute this type of industry for benefit to our only a partial community only to find out at a later date that a prison may be a deterrent in bringing other industry to our area? 7 It appears to me that the County and City officials have done an this excellent job of introducing proposal to the community by only and releasing positive soliciting comments and extolling the benefits of the prison It seems strange to me that no opposition is mentioned know that there is opposition in the Community to having this prison would like to located in Fillmore see this issue brought to a vote so that the residents of Fillmore can make the decision by the count of the ballots If the people of Fillmore do decide that a prison is what they want then so be it At least the decision with a can be made knowledge of both sides of the issue Respectfully submitted Wendell Robison MCHSC backs prison The Millard County Human Services Commission feels that the location of Resource the Regional Coircctional SUPER SUMMERTIME TIRE SPECIALS July 15th thru Aug 10th Pennslyvania reader loves her Chronicle Progress TO THE ‘i 8:00 am to 5:30 pm Center near Fillmore Utah would be appropriate for the following reasons: Long term improvement of local economy with additional jobs and outside funds 2 Potential cost saving to the taxpayers by sharing existing facilities 3 Separation of first time offenders and criminals with a lifetime of crime ofand violence (Only minimum in these will be housed fenders facilities) 4 and key officials Respecled citizens in the County have examined prospects and potential problems and feel that it is in the best interest of Millard County me My name is Leiloni Jeffery Tripp my father is Dr Iliff C Jeffery formerly of Delta and my grandparents Irvin and Adeline Jeffery were among the first settlers in Delta spent Although grew up in Provo and every most of my summers could in Delta with my weekend cousins aunts uncles and my grandmother mentioned to Vaughn some of the difthings felt like expressing as read ferent articles in the Chronicle Progress write them to you and he suggested because he thought you’d be interested If you want to put any of it in the “Letter to the Editor” guess I’d be Haltered it love to read ReHections saw and reminds me of things that was growing up heard about as spent many many hours in the evenJeffery ings with my grandmother while she told me stories about when she grew up in Wayne County then their move to the Delta area the hardships experiences the building of the dam and plants that died in the alkaline soil She was a real pioneer and was so proud of her love to hear dad tell stories of hen he was young in Delta one stands out in my mind before he lost his eyesight of sneaking out of the house to peek where his through the cracks of a shed uncle Edgar Jeffery had trapped a rabid coyote to this day he says he can mouth and clearly picture the foaming wild eyed look of that coyote Or how after he lost his eyesight he was exfarm work pected to do his share of the right along with the others read in one of the articles by a would go swimming woman how she played "run in the irrigation canals run” in the greasewoods sheepy I loved w haystacks-hoin the played doing those things and riding horses bareback with my hair flying in the wish my children could exwind but I perience some of those things I have a daughter guess it’s not to be that loves to ride horses but she’s learwith English ning the English method saddles and dress (a little different) 2 My children get a kick out of reading about missionaries farewells and homecomings that kind of news is so foreign for them to see in print But we have the joys of having missionaries in our midst read about people and wonder if they are the children of people that knew in the 40’s and 50’s read The town surely has grown the report on the ward boundary could never remember there changes ever being more than three wards Sincerely Leiloni J Tripp Police should respect rights Our current law enforcement system desperately needs revising with a return to Common Law Constitutionality The law is on the citizens’ side! The Supreme Court has determined that “where rights secured by the Constitution are involved there can be no law making or legislation which would abrogate them” (Miranda v Arizona 384 US 436491) Yet the police routinely violate our Constitutional mention the following rights examples: J Searching andor seizing property without proper 4th Amendment at rant 2 Seeking to obtain convictions by the use of entrapment of outright ing even before Miranda warning is given 3 citizens identify Demanding themselves give addresses state puretc (T his is composes destinations parable to demanding citizens accept ihe stalus of being guilty until proven innocent of Communist typical societies) 4 Acting as taxation agents which is outside the police powers 5 Arresting people without proper warrants or authoiity 6 Holding people illegally and unlawfully 7 Verbal degredation harrassment and Air brutalily 8 ingerprinting and photographing people as a part of booking procedure rather than having a proper court order (violation of Davis v Mississippi) 9 Perseuiting people who know tlieir rights and demand them 10 Not allowing legal advice of choice if outside the legal profession Not allowing prisoners pen and paper while inside cell in order for them to write a writ of habeas corpus If citizens do not demand their rights timely they are voluntaiily giving them mw m business DELTA ROCK up If you don’t know your rights and want a layman’s help with your own urge you to take the legal matters George Gordon Common Law Course (PO Box 9411 Boise Idaho 83707 reasonably priced for what you get) The change in our police from to public menaces is readily apparent and the situation is getting worse particularly in the Delta area This progressive evil should be stamped out immediately by the common citizen The citizen has a Constitutional Right to use public roads paid for by his own taxes It is not a privilege to Citizens be granted by the government should not be required to carry a drivers’ license register private vehicles or carry insurance in order to use public roads If citizens do no damage to another person or his property there is no corpus delicti and there is no crime therefore there are no legal grounds for depi iving citizens of using public roads fined imprisoned or otherwise depriving him of his rights The police lawyers and judges have a vested interest in keeping our present corrupt system going so they can keep their jobs and money will keep coming in to pay their increasingly high salaries More money is taken from ordinary citizens via fines and burdensome taxation than from criminals who commit serious crimes Rapists thieves and murderers who are caught are often not required to make any restitution for their actions are given light sentences with early probation and due to the unchristian methods currently used their rehabilitation is usually effective and expensive which opens a separate topic of concern for good citizens et’s become aware of our rights demand them and elect lawmakers who will overturn this entrenched unlawful awful “law enforcement” system we currently have pray the police may regain respect in their employment as public servants rather than contempt as Grants who instill fear and revulsion in the people they are supposed to seive CL Crowther Fountain Green Utah AND CONCRETE Millard County Chronicle Progress The WEATHER MARK GOLDEN An ci onomy ptn d in tidiil Ask about our 30 000 mile Extended Service Agreement II pitzi huh n 3?
