Show PH 6 Millard Count) IJSPS Thun Jul) 31 1986 Community LIBRARY By Si MU NEWS 09 Hanitr librarian Lois of Activity Story Hour will resume on Thursday July 31 after the holiday of July 24 Carol Day and two other Fine Arts Members will be there to entertain children between 3:30 and 4:30 The storytellers use books from our library which the children may then check out for themselves After Helen Huntsman read poetry along with her stories last time two children came right up and asked for books of poetry We are pleased not to disappoint them We like to help children gain an interest in many areas of literature for their present and future enjoyment Building Progresses The City Council okayed finishing lie three library rooms deleted from the general contract as far as possible This includes materials for the multipurpose room except the folding door which is scheduled to be purchased next year The header in the ceiling and attic space is being installed now in order to avoid tearing out any ceiling to hang the door when it is installed It is often necessary to hold two small meetings at once so there should he a method of dividing the room and also of holding one large meeting when desired Jeep Posse members are still working on the multipurpose room Denny Brunson has volunteered to do the and Jack McBride has painting volunteered to lay the carpet It is hoped the room will be ready for the Fine Arts meetings in Sept The East Millard Fine Arts Guild has put $720 into the library building fund over two years period Outside lettering has been ordered for the front of the library and for the north outside wall A new concrete walk on the west entrance (Library front door) has been contracted to Jack Peterson to be finished immediately Finish Dates The contractors are scheduled to lay the carpet throughout the City CenterLibrary complex beginning July 28 Most of the painting is done and other finish work is rapidly being The contractors expect to completed be finished with the general contract by the middle of August which is more than two months ahead of contract date We wish to congratulate Atkin Construction on doing such a quality job in less than the contracted time The three rooms we are completing on our own will be finished a little later The William McBride Family Organization is working on the Special Collections room at the present time and may have it completed soon Slate Library Assistance Russel Davis State Library Director and his staff have been most helpful in planning and in other ways assisting us to have a library we can be proud of This summer they took three half days with truck and workers to help with the shopping for furniture at the surplus outlets in Salt government Lake Most of the offices in the complex will be furnished with recycled furniture from government offices and the LDS Church in addition to present furniture It will however be refinished or otherwise reconditioned and will look very nice The State Staff will also bring trucks and equipment as well as manpower to help us move Their most important contribution wil be their "know how” in moving our 15000 books and our furnishings We hope to move before the snow flies!
