Show 4 Page USPS - Millard Count Thurs Feb 25 1988 Project RFD West Millard History The Six County Commissioners Organization Authority Board is pleased to announce that the Central Utah Mental Health Alcohol and Drug Center has been awarded a targeted prevention grant from the National Office of Substance Abuse Prevention TheJ grant is designed to target 4th through 9th grade youth within the Six County area The grant is intended to be a resource working in partnership with parent and community groups business and industry and many other voluntary and professional organizations concerned with alcohol and drug problems Its primary goal is to help prevent alcohol and drug use by youth and thereby contribute to drug free communities the area throughout Commissioner Abe Johnson announced that Rural Family Development which will be known as Project RFD is allocating $2000 per year as a base to each of the six counties with additional funds to be allocated on a population basis It is felt that this type of allocation along with voluntary commitment should provide the impetus for an excellent ongoing program in each county By the end of the three year grant period the project hopes to produce a community awareness of factors that put youth at high risk for alcohol and drug abuse develop a rural model for youth councils and teach the importance of positive attention for good behaviors in youth at risk The grant proposal contained enthusiastic letters of support from the Six County Commissioners Alcohol and Drug Authority Board local school districts county sheriff offices district juvenile court community officials state agencies and community organizations throughout the six counties In addition Senator Orin Hatch letter indicating sent a congratulatory that “you are playing an important role in our national resource effort which is essential to protecting the public and of tragic reducing the prevalence diseases” This project is unique in its efforts to identify needs of rural communities in contrast with programs commonly designed to accommodate the needs of or Rawlinson at The younger group we know as the The first grade at Delta in older group has achieved great things and should have their stories in the These pictures are a generation apart The older picture is of Miss Hansen’s Delta first grade probably 1935 or 1936 The people are not idenCan you help?
