are preparing to leave as his work will soon be finished at IPP Perry Tippetts is staying very busy for a person who has recently undergone surgery but work is tonic for some people and he seems to be one We send him our best and hope he continue to improve Blanche Crafts is still recovering slowly from back surgery Some steaks Ralph was cooking made like the “Little Gingerbread Boy” and hopped out of the pan and the excessive heat set the kitchen on fire but Blanche saved the day with a pan of water and prevented serious damage They have had to replace some windows and cupboards but it could have been much worse Matthew Steele Darlene and son My I drove to Salt Lake Sunday and stayed overnight with the Whitt Lovell family Monday morning we saw my son Myron off at the airport on his way to Jensen and Nelda Margret Ship Memott have just returned from spending seven days together in Hawaii They all met in Las Vegs then flew over from there Visiting at the home of Bea Hinckley were the Dutson The Sacrament program at Deseret on Sunday April 12 was under the direction of High Councilman Howard Talks were given by Mr Johnson Johnson and Paul Leathman and the Ward Choir furnished two musical numbers Jay and Joyce Webb and children from St George visited Saturday with Jay’s parents Spencer and Alice Webb Shonna Lewis daughter of Dean and Marilee Lewis was advanced into the Young Women’s program High Councilman Fred Tolbert put on the program in Oasis Ward Sacrament Meeting on April 12 Ralph and Shirley Skeem spent a few days in Provo during the week There were a lot of town folks leaving town for the long Easter weekend so will have to report them next week West and daughter Emily of Brigham and Mrs Earl Fowells of Roosevelt When she took Nyland to the plane in Salt Lake she visited with Mrs George Hinckley Mildred Allen and family members in Layton and Kaysville She visited in Pleasant Grove with Mrs Ward Curtis and Mrs Frank Pace and Mrs Max Bliss of Orem Robert and Beverly Roth and family of Fillmore visited at the home of her parents Fred and Elva Skeem Ronald Morris came from Calif to get his son Rodney from BYU and spent some time with parents Harold and Belva Morris Helen Christensen of Bountiful and her son Clay and wife Deb did some picnicing with Don and Cherie Morris Arvilla Workman’s daughter Elma and Wayne Jones of LaVerkin spent Saturday cleaning up her yard and getting it ready for spring Cherie Morris and her counselors Bessie Webb and Maxine Bouchard were released as Relief Society presidency Sustained were Karen Redd as president with LeJean Hales and lone Christensen as counselors Little Cole William Riding was blessed by his grandfather Leon Lewis He is the son of Neal and Lisa Riding and a grandson of Kennard and Marge Riding of Delta Bill and Bev Phelps formerly of this city are visiting at the home of their son Scott and Paula Higgs The Higgs have just recently moved into their new home Marilyn Sherrif recently came from Centerville to spend a couple of days with her brothers and sisters in the area Faye Tennant has been under the weather lately so was glad to have Marilyn come to cheer her up We are glad to report Faye is feeling better now to the Sutherland Congratulations 1st Ward’s Veteran Men’s Basketball Team on taking second place in the Central Division which took in southern Utah and some Wards in Arizona They lost to Manti who were first place winners A good number of loyal fans attended the games Nell Sorenson went to Provo to bring Bert home He spent a few days at the home of Gary and Ethelyn Hardy Bert is feeling much better since recovering from pneumonia Lola Stonking went to Washington Utah with Helen Watson and Bessie Webb to attend funeral services fro Glen Bunker Sherman and Gladys Tolbert spent Friday in Salt Lake and visited in Alpine with A1 and Dorothy McFarland and family They attended a wedding reception in Provo Friday evening Jim and Maxene Owens attended a luncheon for the Six County Board on April 9 While in Richfield they visited Millard and Margaret Owens They went to Panquitch where they stayed overnight with Jim’s cousins In Kanab they spent time with some of Maxene’s relatives They stayed in Cedar City and then went to Sterling to see Stan and Sandra Spencer and children Cleone Tolbert and Anita Thomas recently spent a day in Provo Gaylen Tolbert will leave April 22 to go to China with the BYU Study Abroad Program They will study at the University of Nanjing for five weeks and then tour mainland China and end up in Hong Kong Gaylen served his mission in Hong Kong so he will spent a few days there with the people he knew Veronica Tenney has gone to Tucson AZ to attend college She is staying with Tom and Sandy Tenney Alva Young and Emily McCollaum went to West Valley Tuesday to attend funeral services to Alva’s aunt Florence Black Porter Get well wishes to Emily Young who has been ill Mike and LaPriel Mortensen returned home Tuesday after spending a week in Scottsdale AZ with Mike and Julie Katzorke and three boys Ken and Connie Mortensen met them in Cedar City and they all attended the open house in honor of Ren and Cleo Delta Utah I Emma Jean Pratt Howard 55 died April 14 1987 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo from cancer She was born November 9 1931 in Delta to Johnathan I and Josephine Warnick Pratt She married Neil E Howard August 26 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple They were later divorced She attended schools in Delta and from Brigham Young graduated University in the school of business She was employed as a legal secretary with a law firm in Burley Idaho at the time of her death She was an active dedicated member of the LDS Church having served as a Stake and Ward Relief Society President and was serving in her ward Presidency prior to her cancer illness She is survived by her mother of Delta sons David E Covina CA AZ daughter Phoenix Lance N Mrs David (Deslynn) Mecham and Provo two grandCorrie Dawn family Carl and Ethel Benson attended a family wedding the past week Mayna Lovell is recovering after surgery The Lynndyl and Leamington dumpster was set on fire Monday It took the Lynndyl Fire Department approximately VA hours to get it out Please be more careful about dumping hot coals or other material in the dumpster It costs a lot of money to repair these green boxes and a lot of man power Put the hot ashes and burn barrels in the hot coals pit The Lynndyl Firehouse had some damage done to it in the past and its costly to maintain Parents please keep your children and youth away
