It’s time for Sadie Hawkins so guys get out your running shoes The Sadie Hawkins activites began on Tuesday during lunch hours Any girl interested in chasing a guy signed up for the guy that was picked Guys were allowed to pay a fee of one dollar to find out who was chasing them The chase began Thursday morning at 7:30 until 5:00 pm through Friday and Saturday As soon as the girls catch their man they can find a cheerleader to marry them The dance will be held on Saturday Dec at 9:30 after the basketball game The cost will be $300 stag and $600 if the couple is not married Proof of marriage is necessary-- in the form of wedding rings for the couple to be admitted for $500 There will be pictures taken at the dance Jazz Renaissance motets country rock and other styles of music rounded the night of Nov 20 when Delta’s vocal department sponsored a joint concert with SUSC Opus III and Springville’s Jazz Show and Acappella choirs 175 members made Approximately up the various groups that perfomed throughout the night Springville and Delta joined in a workshop during the day in preparation for the large event Professor Aden of SUSC chose the final numbers and helped prepare and critique the groups’ sounds His Jazz group Opus III has performed in Delta as a yearly tradition Mr Aden jokingly calls DHS the “SUSC Extension Campus” He also works with several Delta alumni McKay Shields Loreen and Lance Atkinson who were all part of the performance “Opus improves every year They will be back later in the season with anther elite jazz ensemble Primo from SUSC” Mr Wankier said “It should be great” The two acappella choirs joined for a three combined numbers of "Blow Blow Thou Winter Land ’’“Cry Out and Shout” and “Holy Holy” which featured a tenor solo by Lance Atkinson a former student from DHS Open House welcomes parents There were no floats clowns or marching bands not even a color guard but Tues Nov 20 Delta High became ‘‘Your High School on Parade” The evening began with Rosmary Larson introducing the PTSA board members and Principal S Bart Simnew stafl who introduced mons members Brent Johnson student body president displayed a lot of school spirit and pride as he told the audience of the many honors in academics sports and industrial arts the school has achieved The Show Choir Acappella Choir and TriDels were also on hand to add the music that every parade needs Parents and students alike enjoyed the relaxed Open House atmosphere with its varied classroom displays and activities The evening ended with everyone joining for informal conversation and refreshments in the cafeteria Nathan Most Prefered Men at Millard High School left to right Sophomore Jeff Christensen Elmer Junior Kyle Wilson Senior Don Roberts Overall FHA selects Prefered Men This week we would like to pay tribute to two of our fantastic first grade teachers Jeralyn Shaw was born in Logan Utah and grew up in Salem Utah on a dairy farm with 3 brothers and sisters She is married to Jay Shaw and they have one little boy named Jonathan He is a year old Jeralyn attended Snow College and graduated from SUSC In her spare time she enjoys playing the piano singing and riding horses Her favorite part is seeing the of teaching however children learn and change throughout the year “Seeing growth makes teaching worth it” Delta North Elementary school lunch menu Dec All menus subject notice fries milk Tuesday Dec 4 Meat loaf wtomato sauce wheat roll mixed vegetables salad and milk 7 Dec 5 Wednesday Turkey gravy wwhipped potatoes green beans hot roll cinnamon roll worange slice and milk Dec 6 Thursday Taco wlettuce & cheese tater tots diced carrots Vi apple and milk Friday Dec 7 Lasagna sliced garlic bread celery & carrot sticks applesauce and milk to change without Monday Dec 3 pork sandwich shoestring corn chilled pear half and wk 3-- whole fruit Syd Bassett is another one of our faithful dedicated teachers She was born in Fillmore Utah and is married Bassett to Howard They are the parents of 3 children: Lisa 11 Casey 9 and Brent 6 She received credits from 5 Utah colleges USU U of U BYU Snow College and SUSC She earned her BA from SUSC although she said it took her 15 years to finally graduate She has a lot of experience in the schoolroom She was a teacher’s aide for 5 years (1 yr in classroom 2 yr in Special Ed and 2 yr in Speech Therapy Aide) She also was an intern for year With her family and teaching she finds little time for hobbies but likes to sew and tole paint when she can squeeze it in She also enjoys camping and riding horses with her family and vacationing at Lake Powell and sleeping in When asked what she enjoyed most about teaching she said “1 like to be surrounded by action What better place to find that but in the schools?
