Show THE PRIZE WINNERS. Our correspondents have made a splendid record the past six mouths. There are fifteen ail together, nr.d an average of nine s 'lid lit something every week. If all of them sent In a bunch of news every week we would have to devote another page to correspondence. corre-spondence. None of them sent In a letter every week, but W. It. Walker, our Oak City correspondents, came nearest to It. He missed only two Issues of the twenty-six. and therefore Wins .the first prize of $.1. A. P. Wallace of Delta comes a close second, missing only three Issues. The third prize of $2.00 is won is A. K. Gull of Meadow, who has sent correspondence twenty-one twenty-one weeks during the past six months. We want to thank all of our correspondents corre-spondents for their work. There has been a steady Improvement in thHt- , e'mry cn5tictr-ft 'their tOnespona-ence, tOnespona-ence, and the editor has had to make few changes in any of it This shows what practice will do, and we are sure the work will prove a valuable experience. expe-rience. To further Improve the work we make tho following suggestions: Write only on one side of the paper, and write out every word in full; don't abbreviate. In writing on a controversial contro-versial subject, or one upon which there are differences of opinion, give the opinions on both sides of the question, ques-tion, quoting names where possible, or let each side tell Its story. This will relieve the correspondent of the charge that he has given only one side, for thero are two sides to every case. Don't let sympathy or dislike prevent you from giving all sides of every case. The thief's side of a robbery may make a more interesting story than that of his victim. The reporter's report-er's duty is to get all sides of a case, present it Impartially and let the readers read-ers bo the Judges on the merits of the case. The same prizes are offered for tho next six months, J5.00 to the correspondent corre-spondent who Is the most regular In his correspondence. $3.00 for second prize and $2.n0 third prize. |
