The area is 100x200 feet, and provides 20,000 square feet of smooth cement to swing partners. Musical Program And Bake Sale At PTA May 5 I Two features mark the Delta PTA meeting scheduled for Wed- ( nesday. May 5, at 8 p. m. in the Delta High School auditorium. I First, there will be an excellent program from the speech and music mus-ic departments of Delta high school, and second, there will be a bake sale sponsored by Delta PTA and personnel of the hot lunch room school. at the elementary j The bake sale will of.'r a wide variety of foods, and funds raised by the sale w ill used to buy drap- j eries for the windows in the hot lunch rooms at the elementary school. The musical program will be un-der un-der the direction of Evan Christen sen, and consists of numbers that ' go to St. George J.Iay 8 for the 1 Region 6 music meet fur large en-' sembles. J Mr. Chistensen will direct numbers num-bers by the mixed chorus of 120 voices, girls' chorus of SO voices, and boys' chorus of 40 voices. A s;ecial feature will be the DHS a capella choir of 30 voices picked from the two singing groups. The DHS band, of 70 pieces. Will p:ay several numbers, a nd the pro gram will be climaxed with the band and chorus combined in "The Lard o Hope and Glory". Pick Three At Teen Age Rond-e-o For State Meet Three local lads were adjudged winners of the Teen Age P.oad-e-o conducted at the Delta airport Saturday, and they will go to the j state meet at Murray May 8 to i complete again for top place. j LeRoy Judi, Hinckley, won first ! place, with a score of 415 out of , a pvis;ble 'J. M:ke Warnick, Delta, was ond place winner, w ith a score of , 409. Robert Elanch, Abraham, made third place, with a score of 3.0. ; Cash awards were made, of $15 to LePvOv, $10 to Mike, and $3 to Robert. Spanish Fork, Payson in a round robin of Talent Tal-ent Shows, with combined talent tal-ent winners shown in each town. Cedar City visited Delta Monday Mon-day night with line performance by their winners. I. Ward members donated the time and labor to complete the project, and the parking area will also be used for recreation, for basketball, tennis, volley ball, badminton and roller skating. Indian Program At Sutherland Saturday Might The tribe of Manv Feathers, group of Indian students from ! eight difk-rent tribes from all over the United States, from the BYU will present a culorlul program Saturday night in Sutherland ward at 8 p. m. The program is called "Saga of the Ked Man", and will be in dialogue form, with narrator Betty Baca, from Albuquerque, N. W., a member of the Laguna Tribe. Miss Baca and her uncle are professional entertainers in Albuquerque. The group will present the hoop dance, war chants, and several eastern tribal dances. Miss Baca w,ll sing Indian ballads, and trad-1 itional songs of the twelve diff-j erent tribes. One boy who sings with the group has been featured in Madison Square Carden in , York City. The group will be in , full regalia and furnish their own music. The program is sponsored by Sutherland ward, and all Deseret stake is cordially invited t o attend There will be a full evening's en- j tertainment free of charge. Milton Melville, Fillmore, was re-elected county chairman, Mrs. Evelyn Cropper, Deseret, was elected el-ected chairwomen, Ray Robison, Fillmore, secretary omt treasurer and Richard Hunsaker, Delta, assistant assi-stant secretary. Delegates were also selected by the delegation to attend the state Convention on May 29. The following were selected to be delegates to the State Convention Convent-ion which will be held on May 2'Jth at Salt Lake City. Milton A. Melville, Noel Robins, Bob Philips, Claree Reay, Homer U. Every one interested is urged to be there. tlab Boys Vho Smashed Glass At Legion Hall Members of American Legion Post 89 were dismayed and angered anger-ed Sunday evening to discover that their recently repaired Legion Hall on Sugar Factory Row had been visited by an unknown wreck ing crew who had left a trail of wreckage in their wake. The damages were C9 'broken window lights, 2 door lights and 7 window sashes broken, and 7 new screens slashed and ruined. These were all brand new, and had just been put In the few days before by the Post members. The windows, with stickers still on the new glass had been smashed out. The screens had been slashed in long gashes. It will take $100 to replace the rnater- ! iah that were wrecked, and that does not take into account the labor involved in putting them in, and which will now have to be done again. Program Aids Fund Drive To Fight Cancer The Mark Seamoiis program Thursday night i n Deseret stake house, sponsored by the South Tract Garden Club to aid the fund campaign for the American Cancer Can-cer Society was well worthwhile. Information on cancer cnotrol was part of the program, and the audience aud-ience enjoyed the musical skill of the small Mark, self-taught performer, per-former, who lias been blind five of his six years because of cancer. The South Tract Garden Club and ACS West Millard unit thank the public for their generous support sup-port and attendance at the program. pro-gram. Mr. Wooley Introduced Mrs. Blanche Blan-che Seamons, M ark's mother, who uccompanles her son on the toura. Mark played a few numbers on the piano , and volunteered to play the organ which Is his favorite instrument. Two films were shown, The Warning Shadow, and Traitor With In. Then Mark played several numbers nu-mbers on the organ. Air transportation for Mark and his party was donated by the state. Harlon W. Beament, director dir-ector of Utah State Aeronautics Commission, piloted the plane. Mrs. Biah Sjostrom chairman o f West Millard ACS unit. To Promote Highway 50 Last Saturday at illy, Nevada, a Western States Highway 50 Association Assoc-iation was formed, to promote travel tra-vel on Highway 50. Highway f0 has its eastern beginning be-ginning at Ocean City, Maryland, and goes on west through Washington Wash-ington D. C, Kansas City, Mo., Grand Junction Colo., where it joins U. S. 6, then on west thru Price, on the Spanish Fork, and west to Delta, Ely, Austin, Eureka, Nevada, and along beautiful Lake Tahoe, on through Placerville, Cal., Sacramento and ends at San Francisco. Fran-cisco. States included In the new association asso-ciation are Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Nev-ada, and California. Attending the meet from Delta were C. M. Pace, Max Robinson. Orivl Jeffery and Golden H. Black. Nevada this year is spending 5.1100,000, and California is spend-" ing $1,325. 00 on improvement of Highway 50. The new association this year will print 100,000 colored folders which will show Hwy 50 across the nation and points of interest along the way. A colored movie has also beeen made showing points of interest from Grand Junction Colo., thru Utah, Nevada and California. It Is a beautiful film, entitled "Famous "Fam-ous Fifty", and will be shown In Delta soon to schools and clubs. The association has set an allot! all-ot! nient of $125.00 for each western west-ern state to carry on the advertising advert-ising program. Elected to serve as officers for the coming year were Darwin Lambert, Lam-bert, of Ely, president; Carter San-ford, San-ford, Fallon, Nev,; vice president; George V. Poulson, Ely, secretary and treasurer. Lynn W. Cook mayor of San-Biuin, San-Biuin, and Golden H. Black, Delta were chosen ns Utah directors. Senator Swift Berry, of Placerville, Placer-ville, Cal., was in attendance at the meeting, and is an ethuslastic supporter of Hwy 50. While In Ely the Delta group spent considerable time meeting with Nevada road officials in regard re-gard to a better approach to Hwys 50 and 6 where it joins the East Ely Main Street. They also made arrangements for a Scotch-lite sign directing traffic to Hwy G-50 and Delta.
