Deseret LUCILLE SAMPSON The Deseret Garden Club met Wednesday afternoon at the home of Rose and Aletha Dewsnup. The guest speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. Ruby Bunker from Delta. She gave the ladies some very valuable information on preparing the soil for nlantinff perennials. Fourteen women were in attend-ance and refreshments were ser-ved. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Jacobson re-turned home after spending the summer in Provo. After this week they will live in Hinckley as they are both teaching school there this winter. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Eliason and Mrs. Lincoln Eliason spent a few days in Salt Lake City this week. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Jensen are the proud parents of a baby girl born in Tooele. The mother and baby are doing fine and returned Tuesday. Mrs. Susie Bennett re-turned with them for a short stay. Leon Williams from Mill Valley, California, visited a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dew-snup. Mr. and Mrs. Adrain Davis from Fillmore visited the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Warner. Calvin Croft from Las Vegas, and Mrs. LaVerne Theobald from Hin-ckley were Sunday visitors in Des-eret. Mr. Croft hadn't been in Deseret for over 15 years and was glad to see his many friends and relatives. Miss- Matilda Hales got her left hand in the wringer of her washer Monday and badly bruised and cut her hand. Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Olsen from Provo are staying a few days with Miss Hales. Matilda was alone at the time of the acci-dent and it took her half an hour to free her hand. Mrs. Myrle Bennett, Mrs. La-- 1 Verne Theobald, Mrs. Rose Dews-nup, Mr. and Mrs. Ormus L. Dut-so- n and son, Gill, and Mrs. Mollie Dewsnup spent Monday in Salt Lake City. Mr. and' Mrs. Cecil Warner, Mr. Claude Warner and son, Lloyd, spent Monday in Cedar City. Mrs. Therza Webb is spending a few days in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Max Eliason from California are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Eliason. Also Mr. and Mrs. Glen Larsen spent the weekerfd at the Eliason home. Mrs. Nora Cropper and son, Vin-cent, returned from Salt Lake City after spending the past two weeks there. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Allred and family, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Allred, Ralph Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Fawn Western and family spent the weekend over on the Fremont. Mrs. Fred Statts from Salt Lake City is spending a few days with Mrs. Effie Moody. Ray Moody was also a visitor from Salt Lake City over the weekend at the Moody home. The Deseret Primary has reor-ganized with Mrs. Mable Theobald as president. Her two counselors are Mrs. Bessie Webb and Mrs. Ferns Warner. The secretary is Mrs. Venice Knight. U. s. r,oj..u.v Li-z- Oasis Mrs La Veda Bishop Charles Williams was taken to j the St. Mark's hospital in Salt j Lake City last Wednesday by Mrs. Williams and son Leland. He was i operated on twice, 18 hours apart, for a tumor on the brain. The last reports are that he is improving and at present seems to be out of danger. Mrs. Williams is with him, and Leland is home to take care of the family and farm. Mrs. Lillian Roundy, scfns How- - ard and Paul and daughter, Erma, went to Cedar City last Tuesday. They also visited Cedar Breaks and Bryce canyon, returning home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Hawley drove to Salt Lake City Friday, returning home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop and son, Gerald, and Mr. and Mrs. Car- - los Bishop and sons, Jim and Bruce attended the Hutchings family re- - union at Vivian Park in Provo can-- yon last Saturday. They went on later to Salt Lake City and spent Sunday, returning home that night i Thursday the Skeem "twins" cel- - ebrated their birthdays. Evelyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Skeem, and Hazel is the daughter ' of Mr. and - Mrs. Edwin Skeem. Many relatives and friends called with gifts and greetings. The trad-itional birthday dinner was served. Friday Mrs. Floyd Skeem enter-tained at a birthday party in honor of her son, Evan. Mrs. Delia Ingrahm and family, of Salt Lake City, spent the week-end at the home of Mrs. Lillian Roundy. The Ingrahams also attend ; ed the Webb family reunion in Hinckley on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anderson j and family left for Salt Lake City Tuesday for a visit of several days. Mrs. Erma Styler and daughter Nella are in Beaver visiting Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Messinger. Tuesday evening the MIA seas-on officially opened with a dance and melon feed. A good time was enjoyed by those present. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Robinson drove to Salt Lake last Sunday to see their new grandson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Ferre. Mrs. Robinson stayed to help take care of the little fellow for a while.
