Mrs. Heyborne's mother, Mrs. Ruth Steele, accompanied the couple as far as Salt Lake City, and is returning to Delta after several days there. calls from Alaska . , Cpl. BY MARY TOHNSON The excitement of Christmas is over once again and I believe Santa called at every home.Friends and relatives have assembled to-gether and the Yule spirit is pre- - TheMIA sponsored a Christmas party Tuesday. The presidents, Phill Nielson and Norine Shipley were in charge. The singing of carols, with games and refresh -- ments were climaxed by an ex-change of Christmas packages. Bob Huddleston, who is serving in the U.S. Army has been home, with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Hud-dleston. They all spent Christmas in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Josephine Sudbury of bait Lake is here spending the Christ-mas holidays with her daughter Mrs. Ruth Nielson and family. The annual school and Sunday School party was held Friday eve-ning. The school presented a Christ mas Cantata, which was enjoyed bv a large crowd. Santa came and gave everyone a Dag ui and nuts. Mrs. Ruth Bowers has her moth-er as her guest. Mrs. Ashdown is from Nephi. Mr. and Mrs. Junius Anderson and little daughter are at the home of Eldonna's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Coleman for the holidays. Mr. Anderson is attend-ing the BAC at Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Schwab of Lund, Nevada, are here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Over- - son. Mr. Schwab is teaching in Lund. ' Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson of Hurricane are at the home of their son, Lile Johnson. They came for Christmas but will return to their home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hayes and family drove to Lehi Saturday to visit Mrs. Hayes parents Mr. and Mrs. Fox. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hayes and Linda rode as far as Provo where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Allen. Mrs. Maurine Miller and children of Milford are here with the J. A. Banks family. Mr. and Mrs. ueLong Banks and sons of Provo enjoyed turkey dinner Christmas day with the Banks family also Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Abegglin and Rex. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Whatcott have had their son, Garth and fam ily over the weekend as guests. Earl Greathouse Vona Lou and Don spent Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Oborne and fam ily at Eureka. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Nielson have purchased the basement home from Roy Nielson and mov-ed for Christmas. Friends of Mr. George Boyle were surprized to read of his sudden death last week. He was staying with his daughter in California at the time. Burial took place at Pro-ve Mr. Boyle lived here for many years with his family. Mrs. Boyle died in 1939. Tillman Johnson, who has been home with his parents for Christ-mas returned to Cedar City Mon-day. He is on the basketball team of the BAC, who are playing Car-bon College at Price this weekend. Sunday evening the young folks, who are attending college gave the program in church. Taking Nielson Bob part were Colleen Nielson and Carl Whatcott. Music Anderson Vocal solos by ElDonna were given by Jeannette Schwab and Tillman Johnson. Glyds Banks eave a Xmas story. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mills and daughters and Mr. Keith Black drove to Milford for a visit with relatives. Mrs. Minnie Ashby is here with her daughter Eleanor and family. Alan Nielson, son of Bp. and Mrs Clead Nielson is having a tonsil operation Tuesday. Mr and Mrs. Willard Stewart and little daughter Kit of Las Veg-as are here with Carmen's parents for a few days. Lee Shipley was home for a short visit with the family Christmas day. Monday Paul Finlinson came ov-er and took Mrs. Shipley and fam-ily to Oak City to spend the day with her mother. -- Oak MAE H. SHIPLEY The true Christmas spirit has been manifest very strongly in the Christmas activities this year. The fine program given at Sunday school by the children, under the direction of Supt. Dwain Finlinson, was enjoyed by a large attend-ance, and again at the evening services, when the choir took the program, singing Christmas hymns and songs to an appreciative aud-iences. Saturday evening old "Kris Kringle" came in with bells and high spirits at the close of a fine program given by the Primary. Large sacks of candy and nuts were given to everyone, and each child was delighted to meet the jovial Santa Claus and tell their wants for Christmas morning. A few children here home with colds but Santa took, or sent, sacks to them. After the program some car-olling was done by the young people. Many visitors and students were home to help celebrate. Among them were Wanetta Roper and her husband from Ogden; Verna Mae Shipley and Wesley Shipley, from Salt Lake; Dorothy Nielson from Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. Lennox Finlinson and children from Provo; and Miss Arvilla Jacobson from Salt Lake City. Elder Dean Anderson was home from his mission, and his sister, Edith and Genevieve, also came home for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Olson and children from Brigham City were home for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Dewsnup of Deseret spent the Christmas holi-day in Oak City. Miss Laurel Anderson from Salt Lake, Viola Talbot and Merton and Merlene Lovell were home from St. George. Miss LaMae Finlinson and Mr. and Mrs. Junius Anderson were here from school at the BAC in Cedar City. Monday evening a dance was held and-- enjoyed by the young people and also the older people. Saturday night, December 31, a welcome home dance will be given in honor of Elder Dean Anderson. Everyone is invited. We are all pleased with the fine weather the weatherman is giving us for the holidays. An early arrival for Christmas was the new son born to Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Moody on Dec. 23. Mrs. Moody and the baby are at the Payson hospital and will soon re-turn to Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dutson spent Christmas in Salt Lake City with their children. Don't forget the MIA dance on Friday night, Dec. 30. There will be good music and a good time for everyone. The Veterans won't have a New Years' eve dance this year as they were unable to get an orchestra. Mr. and Mrs: Don Williams had Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Williams. Mr and Mrs. Clyde Walter, Jr., from Salt Lake City spent the Xmas holidays at the home of Mr. and Mrs.' Lincoln Cropper. Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Bennett are spending Xmas holidays in Salt Lake Citv visiting Mr. and Mrs. Max Bishop. The Deseret Pri mary held their Xmas party Tuesday afternoon. They had a children's dance and invited the children from the Oasis ward to attend. Saturday evening the Deseret Sunday School held their Christ-mas eve program. They had a very good program and a large crowd attended. Old St. Nick came and brought bags of candy and nuts to each child. Sunday morning the Deseret Sun day School had a Christmas pro-gram. A very good program was outlined with musical readings and and songs. Mr. Billy Conk from Oregon is spending Christmas with his mo-ther, Mrs. Eva Conk. Mr. and Mrs. Parnell Hinckley and daughter from Salt Lake City visited over Xmas holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Eliason and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Eliason of Delta. Home from school over the holi-days are Richard Dewsnup, Darrell Allred, Genevieve Eliason. Mr. Grant Western from Salt Lake City is spending the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. M.
