TO THE EDITOR Editor: Each week I look forward to receiving re-ceiving the Chronicle and "catching "catch-ing up" on the events of west Milard County. No matter how long a person has been away, it's always al-ways home. Sincerely, Vona Walker (Texas) Dear Editor: I have read with interest the comments of Mrs. Lenore Bunker and Mr. Neil E. Howard, Executive Director, Ettie Lee Homes, Inc. I also was reared in Delta. The BYU film, "The Little Red Hen" mentioned by Mrs. Bunker, was shown in our ward about a year ago with "exceptional" interest inter-est reported. We plan to run it again shortly to a larger group. Actually, our plan calls for establishment es-tablishment of a group of individual individ-ual homes of 10 to 12 young people in each in a small community ranch type situation. Our program is geared to "youth involvement" in the areas of homelife, work,! education, and recreation to teach the principals of responsibility. We expect particularity in the selection of house parents. Psychological testing and counseling services (including (in-cluding parental) are included under the direction of Mr. Ralph Gant, Psychologist With the ability of an established school system to absorb the young people of the program, we certainly certain-ly feel community life can function func-tion successfully on an inter-social relationship with those involved in our program, since our plan is not for a correctional type institution. We will discuss Mr. Howard's offer of assistance at our next meeting. Sincerely, J. E. Johnson, Board of Directors, Youth Ranches of America, Inc. Dear Editor: We would like to make a comment com-ment on the essay "Our American Freedom, How Free?" written by Kevin Damron. If more people had Kevin's ideas on our rights and freedoms our entire nation would be better off. We had the idea that a 13-year-old was still a child. Apparently we were wrong. Because this young man's ideas had quite an effect on us. We just hope it had the same effect on others. In general we think the essay was outstanding. outstand-ing. Sp4 Larry and Shirley Reynolds 583 Medical Ambulance Co. Landstuhl, Germany I MILLARD COUNTY CHRONICLE AEC Lecture at DHS March 24 A demonstration lecture sponsored spon-sored by the Atomic Energy Commission Com-mission on atomic energy and its uses will be presented at Delta High School In Delta, Utah, on March 24, 1970. The program, titled "This Atomic World," is designed to acquaint students with the basic principles of nuclear energy, its sources, and its role in agriculture, industry, medicine and research. Ward Welchel will present the assembly program, which explains in student terms the structure of atoms and the operation of nuclear reactors as well as such concepts as radiation, fission, and fusion. Mr. Welchel has completed extensive exten-sive training at the Oak Ridge, Tenn., facilities of the Atomic Energy Commission. He holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Tennessee. Specially designed electronic equipment is used during the 10-minute 10-minute program to demonstrate the sources of radiation, how nuclear nu-clear energy is harnessed to fur-nisih fur-nisih electric power for cities, and the use of radioisotopes to aid in diagnosis and treatment of diseases and to learn more about life processes. pro-cesses. A blackboard talk to science classes, which deals more specifically speci-fically with topics of atomic structure, struc-ture, radioactivity, radiation, biology, biol-ogy, and careers in nuclear science, follows the assembly. The program is operated by Oak Ridge Association Universities, which conducts the nationwide exhibits ex-hibits program of the Atomic Energy Commission. The Association Associa-tion is a nonprofit educational and research corporation of 41 Southern colleges and universities. The "This Atomic World" program pro-gram scheduled here is one of 23 similar units appearing daily at high schools throughout the country. coun-try.
