Show PIONEER PASSES THOMAS 11 CHOPPER CROPPER DIES thomaas W cropper one of the early pioneers in the founding of millard county closed a long and eventful career on S tuna 25 1932 at the home of hi ill daugh ter mrs mark reynolds in provo thomas W cropper was born on oct 24 1842 at spring creek tex the son of george W cropper and sebrina land cropper he came to utah in 1856 with his mother and brothers leigh R and gerge wise cropper where they settled at fill more and were prominent in the pi sneering one ering of that vici vicinity alty they were among the first to set tie in deseret where thomas W cropper hauled the first load of rak tor for the first dam in the sevier river he ile played a prominent part in the black hawk war being captain a of the rock haulers in the construction of fort deseret which was built tor for protection from indians he went on a number of expeditions against the indians and was commissioned a first lieutenant in the utah militia by gov durkee he preserved the muster rolls of his company in the black hawk indian war making it possible tor for many veterans and wid owes to receive government pensions he hauled stone to help budd the salt lake temple and also served as a body guard tor for president brigham young he furnished a wagon and eight head of oxen and drove them to the missouri river and back and brought emigrants to utah he marrium mary ann dame on september 1 1867 and to this union three sons were born she died in 1873 on jan 1 1876 he be married hanaah lucretia rogers and to them was born seven daughters she passed away in 1924 he Is survived by his sister mrs kate webb of los angeles and the following children lloyd and col cal mer cropper deseret R M crop per elsinore Els lnore georgiana Geor glana C johnson of aurora hanah C ashby amert ameri can fork sebrina C reynolds pro vo mary C reeve Hin ed eda a C tippetts ephraim and allye C pratt hinckley and by 43 grand children and 19 great grandchildren funeral services were conducted in fillmore on sunday june 26 with many prominent speakers inter ment was held in the fillmore aeme tery contributed |
