Show Former Resident Dies in Florida In Car Accident Relatives and friends in Oak City and Delta were saddened to hear of the death of Don Willis in an automobile accident ill Jacksonville, Jackson-ville, Florida, January 11. He was ' the only son of W. Mortimer and Stella Church Willis. He was born in the southern part of the state, around Henrie-ville, Henrie-ville, where he lived until the death of his mother. Mortimer Willis Wil-lis then bought a farm in south Delta where he and his son Don lived. Some time later the father married mar-ried Margaret Nielson of Oak City. , The family lived in south Delta and Oak City for a short time and then moved to Caliente, Nev. Here Don attended school and graduated graduat-ed from the Lincoln high school at Panaca. He went on an' LDS mission to Florida and after his return he joined the navy and served with the Sea Beas in the South Pacific. At the close of the war he came home, .then went to Jacksonville, Florida to attend college. There he was president of the LDS branch of the church. He married and last June he and his wife and baby boy came to Utah to visit relatives and go to the LDS temple tem-ple in Salt Lake City. He is survived by his wife and son of Jacksonville, Florida, his father and step mother' of Clearfield, Clear-field, Utah, and two sisters, LaRue Gurr of Los Angeles and Mary Rob ison of Layton, Utah. Don's wife had her leg broken in the same accident and is in a serious condition. The baby is also in the hospital with a broken leg. Mortimer Willis left Salt Lake City by airpalne Thursday, January 12, but due to bad weather he had to go most of the way by train. He did not arrive in Florida until Sunday. Funeral services and burial bur-ial were in acksonville. |
