Alta won by forfeit over Highland on Monday 0 then blanked Brighton was and nipped by Wednesday Cottonwood Friday. Jordan edged Brighton 3 by CottonMonday, was shut-owood Wednesday, and, as mentioned, lost to Hillcrest Friday. West Jordan advanced its record to 9 by winning by forfeit over Cyprus Wednesday and Kearns Friday, though losing to Taylorsville 7-- 5, 11-- 6, 6-- 6--0 5-- 9-- 6-- 2 4-- ut 9--0 11-- 13-- 4 2-- 0. Brighton had another tough week, losing to Jordan Monday, Alta Wednesday, and East 1 Friday. Dee Stevens pitched the distance for Bingham against West, 2-- striking out nine and giving up just five hits. Brian Orr lined out two doubles, Kelly Scott and Phil McCoy each a triple, and Gavin Jangard a double. After the score was tied at through the first two innings, Bingham went in front in the third, then fought off a late West charge. Bingham jumped out to a lead over Granger in the first inning and was never seriously threatened after that. Kelly Cherrington went three for three at the plate with a double, as did Brian Orr. Jangard had a triple, Jay Applegate a triple, and Stevens went two for two. Bingham broke open a 1 game against Tooele with a five run fourth inning. McCoy and Stevens each went two for three and Orr tripled. Pitcher Jangard worked all seven innings, striking out 12. Hillcrest's Glen Evans threw a three hitter against Cottonwood Monday. Hillcrest played one of its better games of the season, facing Cottonwood ace Carl Coats. A triple by Bill Robertson was Hillcrest's only extra base hit. Brett Varoz pitched his way to a five hit shut-ou- t against Granite. Among Hillcrest's 13 hits, Robertson had a home run, Varoz a single and a double, Alan Childs two singles, Mike Spilker three singles, and Jeff Fullmer a double. Robertson and Spilker accounted for five of Hillcrest's six hits against Jordan, Spilker hitting two homers and a single and Robertson a triple and double. Jordan outhit Hillcrest, but left nine men on base. Blake Bush had a double and a single and Dusty Bolliger two singles 2-- 2 6-- 1 for Jordan. Brent Lloyd picked up a double for Alta against Brighton Wednesday then added a double and a triple against Cottonwood Friday.
