July 28. 1983 8 Page State Italian Day will be held at Lagoon All Italians Utah states will and of surrounding cele- brate the 49th All State Italian Day at Lagoon Resort, Davis Pavilion, on Sunday, Aug. 14, 1983. Organizing this annual Mario event are Valente, Jeanette Welch, Iren committee and Martina, of the Italian members American Civic League. The first All State Italian Day was held in 1934 making this the 49th consecutive gathering of Italians, their descendants, and friends. Highlighting the day will be a program with speeches, prize drawings, entertainment, and the selection of an Italian Queen. Competing for the Italian Queen title will be: Trade Anderson, daughter of Bill and Ann Anderson, Salt Lake City; Paula Marcovecchio, Alta coed wins in Lenox China daughter of Bill and Carolyn Marcovecchio, Sandy; Maria Cerroni, daughter of Angelo and Dottie Cerroni, Tooele; Suzanne Morelli, daughter of Ralph and Marion Morelli, Salt Lake City; and Kimberlee Johnson, daughter of Kary Fitzgerald, American Fork. The Most Rev. William K. Weigand-Bisho- p of the Diocese of Salt Lake City and Bishop Joseph Lenox Federal, Retired Bishop of the Salt Lake Diocese will conduct a Mass at 12 p.m. and will also address the gathering. The Rev. Thomas J. Meersman will act as Master of Ceremonies. Mayor Ted Wilson, and other city and county commissioners will also be in attendance. The All State Italian Day is a fund raising festivity sponsored Italian the annually by American Civic League of Salt Lake City. Profits from this day are donated during the year to charities and worthy groups in need of funds. Two full scholarships to a university are awarded to deserving high school graduates of Italian descent yearly. In addition, two scholarships are given annually to high to students school Technical College. Utah . Permits raised for firewood Recent action by the Board of State Lands and Forestry raised the minimum permit fee for firewood and other small forest products to $10. David Schen, program specialist for State Lands and Forestry, a division of the Utah Department of Natural Resources, said the increased minimum fee applies to wild posts, poles, ornamentals, Christmas trees and desert plants as well as the firewood. Pinyon and juniper will be sold from designated areas at the rate of $3 a cord for quantities larger than those covered by the minimum fee.
