Show at ttliaaet Alta hosting l( '''Corporation' ORDINANCE indoor track - . I Track and field competition need not wait until March if interested athletes take advantage of two indoor meets being scheduled for the Alta High sporting goods. The meets are for high school students only and any boy or girl enrolled in high school is eligible to participate. But, because the meets are open to "all comers," no athlete may be dressed in their school uniforms. There wiU be a $1 fee charged to anyone entering the Alta Fieldhouse and that includes both spectators and participants. The fee wiU cover the costs of awards and officials. Coaches may enter without charge by showing their region or state coaches' will be required, athletes pass. No will be registered as they arrive. Athletes may enter only two events. Medals will be awarded to the first three finishers in each event. The meet wiU start promptly at 12:30 p.m. Since meet organizers are unsure of the numbers of entrants to expect, there wiU be only an order of events, not a time schedule. Track events will include the 60 yard hurdles, the one mile run, the 60 yard dash, the 880, the 440 dash, and the two mile run. Field events will be the shot put, high jump and the pole vault. Meet officials are asking both coaches and athletes to make sure that absolutely no spikes are worn in the Alta Fieldhouse as they would ruin the floor. Alta track and field coach Ray Jensen said that in past years the meets have drawn close to 400 participants, about the same number that might be expected during a large regular season invitational meet. Jensen added that based on the numlier of coaches that have already expressed an interest in the meet, as many as 500 might be present this year. "Because we run fewer events than an outdoor meet," he commented, "we can usually complete the meet in about four or five hours." Anyone who would like further information on the 5 ext. 144. meets can call coach Jensen at First loaguo gamos; Alta, Hillcrost winnors With the first shock of league play over, Jordan District girls' teams are analyzing the kinds of teams rebounds.
