The assembly, comprised of nine western states, has a theme this year of Share and Prepare and the assemblage will not return to Utah for another 13 years. Things pertinent to A. Rymer of Manti celebrated his 90th birthday at his home at 305 E. 4th No. in Manti on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22 and 23. Present to help him celebrate this significant milestone were members of his family. Born in Texas, he married Ellen J. Hanks and they raised a family of 11 children. He has been bishop of the Torrey Ward in Wayne County, Utah. He served an LDS mission to Texas. Since coming to Manti he has been a Manti Temple worker, and a missionary guide. The greatest accomplishment in his life was the rearing of a fine family and being a wonderful father and grandfather. He has eight children living, 48 grandchildren, 75 and 5 i First Baby a Boy Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Kallene) Braithwaite, Salt Lake City, are the parents of a new baby son born Feb. 21, 1975 in Salt Lake City. Maybe this is your opportunity, because at a meeting March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater of the Noyes Building on the Snow College campus the organization of a Sanpete Community Theater will be considered. The meeting has been called by Dr. Sheril V. Hill, Snows dean of instruction, and Richard Haslam, Snow Theater chairman. A Sanpete Community play during the winter season, Mr. Haslam explained. It could also provide some summer activity. One activity that could be considered would be some special productions during the bicentennial year. Mr. Haslam said that townspeople from the various Sanpete County communities those who have had theater experience and those who would simply like to add a new dimension to their lives, are invited to participate in the March 3 meeting. At 90 he is still gaining momentum and happiness from WED., MARCH 12 B & one--an- Its a Boy u The I Four correspondents from Sterling, Manti and Ephraim areas were special guests of the Manti Messenger and Ephraim Enterprise at a workshop held at the college in Price last Saturday, Feb. 22. The workshop was sponsored by the Utah Press Association and the Department of Com- munications, Brigham Young University. Instructors for this workshop were Associate Professor Dr. Ralph D. Barney, formerly assistant editor, reporter on the Honolulu Star Bulletin, Public Relations Director for the Church College of Hawaii and Polynesian Cultural Center. The other instructor was Merwin G. Fairbanks, PhD, former reporter for the Deseret News and Church News Editor, American Banker, correspondent, Editor BYU Alumnus Magazine. Those attending from our area were Dona S. Peterson, Sterling; Orpha Parry, Manti; Eleanor K. Madsen and Mrs. Virginia Nielson, Ephraim. The ladies report the trip was very enjoyable and many good points were brought out. All enjoyed a tasty hot chicken dinner served at the college. Fund. NIGHT AND SPECIAL CLASSES To Be Offered by Snow College Michael J. Eddleman has been named Manti High Schools 1975 Betty Crocker Family Leader of Tomorrow. Eddleman won the honor by scoring high in a written know- -. ledge and attitude examination administered to high school seniors here and throughout the country Dec. 3. He will receive a specially designed award from General Mills, sponsor of the annual Betty Crocker Search for Leadership in Family Living and becomes eligible for state and national honors. Family Leader of Tomorrow, who receives a $5,000 college scholarship. Second, third and fourth place national winners receive scholarships increased to $4,000, $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. The test, personal observations and interviews are all prepared and conducted by Science Research Associates of Chicago. Michael is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Dyreng of Manti. During the tour, personal observations and interviews are conducted to select the Manti South ELAINE Telephone HIGHAM 835-446- Sorensen Doc Harris Waltermer Sorensen, 64, Blackfoot veterinarian, died in an auto-trai- n collision at the old highway crossing west of Blackfoot, Idaho Friday Feb. 7, 1975 about 5:30 p.m. Mr. Sorensen was born at Ephraim, Utah, on May 11, 1911, the son of Walt and Elvirra Christensen Sorensen. He attended high school at Ephraim and Snow College and then attended Utah State University. He received his degree in medicine from veterinary Colorado A & M in 1941. He practiced his profession in Weiser, Driggs, Rexburg and Idaho Falls before going to Blackfoot in 1947. His hobbies were horses and mules, hunting and fishing. He married Marie Munson in 1950. They were later divorced. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. Mr. Sorensen is survived by the following children: Mrs. Jeannine Boyles, Ventura, California; Mrs. Jackie Baler, Tetonia; Grant Sorensen and Dale Sorensen, both of Blackfoot; and a stepson, Claron Wheeler, Germany. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Eliza Larson, Ephraim, Utah; 17 grandchildren and one state every W. 2 Mrs. Elva Christiansen lives at 2440 5th South in Salt Lake City, recently had a birthday celebration. Forty senior citizens gathered in the dining room where she is staying and sang Happy Birthwho of to her. Twenty-fiv- e day the people had harmonicas and played them. She received many cards and gifts for her ceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jeannine. Funeral services were conducted in the Groveland LDS Church on Feb. 12. Burial was in the Grove City Cemetery at Blackfoot. Scott and Karen Mickelson and their three children from Puyallup, Washington, have LURE been visiting Scotts parents Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mickelson. They plan to stay for about a week. 4-- H Want to start a rabbit program? With construction of a new modern rabbit processing plant in Utah, a ready market is now available for youths who would like to grow some rabbits. Mr. Howard Allen, Brookfield Feed Co., Salt Lake County, has established the processing plant. He is interested in working with youth of the state in a new H rabbit production and marketing program. Mr. Allen indicated that he will make available the breeding rabbits (so they will be of a uniform conformation for processing) at a reasonable market price (rather than the normally high breeding stock price). He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. and will be named Dustin Bruce Nell. He has a sister, Natali. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Art Nell, Manti, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fugate of Spanish Fork. to participate can obtain up to five does and one buck, or several club members could share a buck. Where will they market the rabbits? Mr. Allen said if there is wide enough interest there will be four or five locations in the state where the rabbits can be brought on designated days for sale and pickup. What will they do for feed? Rabbit pellets can be purchased from Brookfield Feed Company or most any feed processor. However, rabbits can utilize grass clippings, edible weeds and home-grow- n hay and grain to a large extent. As with any animal project, a youngster can learn the valuable lesson of responsibility raising rabbits. A rabbit project has the added advantage of requiring very little capital outlay. The cost of breeding animals is low and pens could be home-mad- e. The group attended a school art show where Ann Lastowskihad two drawings exhibited and her brother Mike had one. While at the art show the Schmidts met some old friends, Mr. and Mrs. Neldon Mathews from Panaca, Nevada where they formerly lived. Mr. Mathews was the school principal and bishop at that time.
