Heart attack alone will kill more than 680,000 persons this year. The South Sanpete Heart Association is working to reduce these deaths. Research is unravelling some of the mysteries which eventually will lead to new methods of treatment and prevention and, hopefully, cures. Educational and community programs are being held here and across the country to make residents aware of heart disease and provide Mrs. Stewart added that although the American Heart Association has scored major achievements in combating the nations number one killers, more help is needed to reduce the death toll due to cardiovascular diseases. Local volunteers will visit area homes in February to distribute educational literature and collect funds to support the work of the Heart Associa- wom- en who have electric drills in their home workshops or tool kits may think they have only one purpose: to bore holes in things. But the creative homemaker who likes to save time and elbow grease might be delighted to know that the drill does far more than bore; it can, in fact, put sparkle into her day. There are inexpensive," easily available accessories that you attach to your drill and let them do all sorts of things for you: polish metal articles; put a polish on your automobile; buff your wood furniture to a warm, mellow gleam youd wear yourself out achieving by hand: sharpen knives; homogenize paint that has stood around for a long time and thickened at the bottom of the pail, remove old, loose paint; get rid of rust on metal objects, such as outdoor furniture or railings. It is the resolve to work even harder than before to expose the enemies of God, family, and country in our midst. We shall do so because we believe that exposure is the only sure way to stop those who are destroying our nation and all of its traditional institutions. Domestic Policy Questions Since the dictionary definition of inflation (which is correct) is an increase in the quantity of money which causes prices to rise," and since it is the government which is increasing the quantity of money and thus causing the rise in prices, why do our leaders, from the President on down, blame housewives, businessmen, labor leaders, and others for inflation? Why have programs involving forced busing spread from coast to coast when they are wanted by neither black nor white parents, and when their implementation has produced a sharp decline in educational quality and an equally sharp rise in racial animosity? Why is it that the same groups and individuals who want to coddle criminals while handcuffing law enforcement officials continue to work diligently for the confiscation of the personal weapons of Americans? Why does a nation which was founded on a belief in the right to life show so little concern for the ugly slaughter of hundreds of thousands of unborn infants? Why does the present administration plan to expand the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) when it can be easily shown that OSHA has not improved safety and health, that it has proven to be a bureaucratic monster devouring free enterprise, and that it is not wanted by the American people? g God-give- n - Copyright 1975 by The John Birch Society Features |
