Helen is extremely active in many church and civic groups. Darol B. and Thora Jensen Rasmussen met at Snow College in 1939 and graduated in 1941. Darol served an LDS mission. When he returned, he was called into (he army and served during World War II. Darol and Thora were married before he left for training camp. Thora went on to BYU and majored in Elementary Education. After the war, Darol went to the University of Utah and then on to the University of California fora Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) degree. Darol and Thora are the parents of four children. Thora enjoyed teaching elementary and raising her children. Darol worked in dentistry for 30 years and also in real estate. Darol served as a member of the Snow College Foundation Board. He also enjoyed working with the youth and served extensively in the Boy Scout Program. Darol served a Catholic Mission in Guatemala to provide free medical services. Darol and Thora were recipients of the 1994 Snow College Distinguished Alumni Award. They were key contributors to the Carillon Bell Tower on the Snow College campus. The Rasmussens are retired and work a ranch in California. The Honorable K.L. Mclff was appointed to the Sixth District Court in November 1994 by Governor Michael O. Leavitt. He served Garfield, Kane, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier, and Wayne Counties. He grew up in Sanpete County, went to grade school in Sterling, high school in Manti and college in Ephraim. He then served a tour of duty in the United States Army. Teachers are checking books, reviewing supplies, perusing possible workshops, and pondering next years curriculum. Students are search1 ing for summer jobs. The extended school year program will involve many of our students. By calling Colleen at 80 you may get the infor- mation regarding the classes, times, and places. We hope this will be a successful and rewarding experience for the students. During this past year we have accomplished many of our counseling center goals. We have met individually with all the senior students (some several times). AH 1th and 9th graders and most of their parents met for the SEOP (Student Education Occupation Plan.) interview. Tenth graders participated in their computer classes with the Choices program. That interest test helped students identify possible career paths. The relationship of education, future earnings, and degree of unemployment was also dis 1 Cox cussed in 10th grade English classes. Several community, business, and college speakers were invited into the classrooms. Increasing this kind of enrichment is our goal. Also we will be meeting with all students and their parents again next year for the SEOP interview. Parents, please plan on joining us when you are contacted for the appointment. As parents take the time to meet with us and their student, the message sent is, you and your educational goals are so important, we will leave work or meet in the evenings to find out how we may help. Our students have been very successful in their preparation for the ACT test. Scores are improving and that helps our students become more competitive for scholarships. We will offer additional ACT Prep classes next September. We appreciate all those who have volunteered as tutors this past year.
