R R Clair Anderson a prominent Sanpete Valley business political and church leader died In a Salt Lake City hospital Oct 28 1972 of natural causes Born Jan 8 1902 In ManU Mantl Utah the son of Lewis R R. R Anderson and Clara Munk Anderson he was married May 25 1927 In the Manti Mantl LAS Temple to Rachel Holbrook She died In 1946 He lie married Mabel M. M Luke Oct 6 1948 He is survived by his widow son and daughters L L. L Robert Monticello Mrs Wilbur Wllbur Jane Braithwaite ManU Mantl Mrs Karl A. A Ruth Keller LaMesa San Diego Calif A son William Wllliam proceeded him in death by five years He has 12 grandsons and seven granddaughters He is also survived by his 99 year old mother Mrs L L. L R R. R Anderson Mantl ManU and the following brothers and sisters Mrs Clark Lucile Keller Mrs Waldo Eunice Garbe L. L L Glen and Elliott of Manti ManU and Mrs Earl Mary Sorensen Redmond Mr Anderson attended the Mantl Manti schools and Brigham Young University He served an mission in the Northern States He was a High Priest In the Church and served in the Sanpete South stake presidency for 18 years being released in March of this year in the Manti ManU Center Ward bishopric and the Sanpete Stake high council as well as in many other church capacities He was i a Silver Beaver and was finance chairman for Sanpete South Stake Boy Scouts of America Mr Anderson was the father of and general chairman of the Mormon Miracle Pageant at Manti which since Its small beginning In 1967 drew an audience last summer r of He was a member of ot the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Utah Pioneers and a former member of the ManU Mantl Commercial Club He was one of the original recipients of ot the Snow College Distinguished Service Award given to those who have contributed outstanding service In their community and state Mr Anderson was active In the Republican party and served two terms In the House of Representatives and one term in the Senate of the Utah State Legislature and acted on many important committees He was the producer of two patriotic pageants For 39 years Mr Mir Anderson was wholesale distributor for Standard Oil Company of California California California Cali Cali- fornia retiring January 1972 Funeral services were held In the Manti Mantl South Ward Chapel Wednesday Nov 1 with interment in the ManU Mantl City Cemetery under the direction of Buchanan Mortuary The family suggests contributions to the Mormon Miracle Pageant Fund Box 0 Manti Mantl Utah |
