Child care will be provided for 3 year olds. Three 30 minute sessions of fun activities will be held. A surprise guest speaker and some special video presentations will be in the auditorium for adults. The theme for the event is entitled, Catch the 2-- Vision of the Cyprus Learning Network. The event is sponsored by the Magna Chamber of Commerce, Magna Community Council, Cyprus PTA Council, Granite School District and the Cyprus Learning Network which consist of the following schools: Cyprus High, Brockbank Junior, Pleasant Green Elementary, Magna, Copper Hills, Lakeridge and Orchard. There are many fun activities planned for everyone, no matter the age. This will be a marvelous activity for entire community to come together and support each other. On Tuesday, March 28 a groundbreaking ceremony took place at the location of the new junior high, 7600 West 3600 South. Contra, Inc., received die contract to build the $17.3 million facility. The school will help alleviate the overcrowding that has occurred for many years at Brockbank and Hunter Junior High. The capacity of the two-stobuilding will be about 1,100 students. It will have 45 classrooms, two gymnasiums and an auditorium large enough to seat all the students. This building is the result of die commitment the tax payer has to the education of the children of die Granite School District. , Speaking as only one vote on die school board, I must ry personally and individually acknowledge my appreciation for the commitment It has been very disheartening to go to the existing schools and witness the schools operating as they have had to. I must also complement the staff and administration of Brockbank and Hunter for the many wonderful things they continue do for our children and know they are as excited as I am to get this long awaited new school built. Unfortunately these are not the only schools that are experiencing overcapacity. We need to continue to review every option available that will help students. If you have suggestions, please contact me at 966-557- 7 or any Granite School Board member.
