Show Why it Is for Roosevelt. "The Wall Stieet Journal," in an article under the captain "Why Wc Support Rooseclt," discusses from the Wall stieet pilot of view the records re-cords of the opposing candidates for the Presidency and sums up Its-points by saying: "In short, we find in the President's enemies the strongest arguments ar-guments for his success." The article Is as follows: "Some of our leadeis hae asked us fiom time to time why wo believe that the election of Pi csldent Roosevelt Roose-velt for a second term would boa good thing. The question Is a fair one, and although we might leasonably say-that say-that the columns of this paper for the last eighteen months have contained our leasons, ex'piessed in gieat detail, weaie willing to state them once moie, concisely, so that our position may be undeistood. "At the outset It may be stated that the 'Wall Street Journal' Is neither Republican nor Democratic, as such, nor Is it primarily a political paper. It finds some good in both parties and some evil In both. It is committed to neither, and Is fice to speak lis mind as to either in the futuie, fu-tuie, as it has done In the past. "Sonic eighteen months ago wc commenced com-menced publication of tho facts with lespect to the altitude of the 'high finance' tow aid President Roosevelt. We pointed out that the 'high finance' was bitterly opposed to his election, because It found that he was not to be contiolled, and because it had felt the weight of his hand in the matter of enforcement of the law against the Northern Secuiltles company and In the vital matter of publicity. As fai back as February, ll)0:t, we pointed out that the most determined efforts would bo made to accomplish his defeat, de-feat, and, furthcrmoie, we stated th:it Judge Parker had even then been picked out as the man to be supported against Mr. Rooscelt. Fionl time to time we have explained why and how the 'high finance' hoped to defeat him. Tho main reason why we favor the election of Mr. Roosevelt Is to be found in the main reason why the 'high finance' desires his defeat; wo believe It to be essential that the President of the United States should not be controlled, wholly or partially, directly or Indirectly, by any one class in the community, and perhaps least of all by the 'high finance.'
