His nose, which was so badly crushed, is a lltr tie crooked, but still he Is a good looking look-ing man. John Squires has determined to get out of tho barber business, at least for a short time. Ho has been at it now at least forty years, twenty-eight of which havo been spent In one shop or another on Main street ln Logan. In that time Mr. Squires has run up against considerable cheek and now expects to take a lay-off for at least six montlis. He will probably not retire until C. E. Nappcr gets ready to remodel the building in which the barber-shop is how located. There are some parties In this county coun-ty who own and let run at large some very vicious dogs. We know of a gentleman, that was driving recently in a cutter. These dogs came at his outfit, ono fastening his teeth to the seat rug behind. The horso saw the dogs over the blinds of tho'brldlc, and awaysho went with tho driver and cutter, a distance of a half a mile. Parties owning these dogs could bo held for damage, If any occurred on our public roads through these vicious animals. The G. & F. Lumber and Building Company has recently received one car of sewage piping and tiling. Tho sewage pipe Is becoming popular for many usages. It Is said to make excellent ex-cellent water ways for street crossings and for tho draining of low lands. In many places the larger size Is used for the curbing of wells. The entire day will be devoted to the exhibition, but tho rooms will not be open for Inspection by the public until after the noon hour. The cream of the work ln each grade will be in Miss Cassady's room on tho second lloor.but In each room will be shown the work of the pupils In that particular grade, and wo know from an Inspection of tho work that many in attendance will be surprised at tho quality. The Bell people felt that they had secured a victory, but it seems that It Is to bo a short lived one. The franchise granted the Homo Co. was declared Illegal because of greater privileges granted it than tho Boll Co. enjoys, It being unlawful under un-der a certain city ordlnanco for a foreign for-eign corporation to receive such favors. In order to offset this, tho Homo Co. which was Incorporated In Nebraska, thereby making It a foreign company, has decided to rc-incorporato In the State of Utah. When thlslsdone,Ogdcn will be ablo to grant tho Homo Co.any favors it pleases, and information is to tho effect that the city favors competition competi-tion In tho tclophono business. Tho Home Co. will erect a lino, business block ami spend as much as $100,000 In Ogdcn within a year.
