Show Obeyed Lee's Order. Capt. John Lamb, who represents tho Richmond district in Congress, will deliver a lecturo at Williamsburg Monday night on tho battlo of Malvern Mal-vern Hill. Capt. Lamb has become famous fa-mous on thla subject through his defense de-fense of Gen. John Magruder from the charge that ho was responsible for tho slaughter ot Confederate troops In that engagement. Capt. Lamb at the time of tho battlo was an orderly sergeant attached to tho staff of Gen. Magruder. Tho night after tho battle ho was In Magrudcr's tent whon Gen. Leo came in. Tho latter lat-ter doraanded to know why Gen. Magruder Ma-gruder had ordered his men to charge when Incvltablo defeat and disaster awaited them. "Gen. Lee," Magruder answered, "I charged because you threo times ordered or-dered mo to. I was not able to get my men ready for the charge when jou gave tho order tho first and second sec-ond times, out when you gavo tho order or-der n third tlrao, wo started." Gen. Lee, says Capt. Lamb, admitted that this was true, and It was not until un-til recent years thnt Gen. Magruder has been chnrged with responsibility for the dlsastpr. Capt.
