Show Mrs. Hillyard Dies Suddenly The Week Doings at Smitrifield SMITUFIELD, Oct. O.-Our city was stajtled on Thursday morning to hear that Mrs. Alma Illl)ard had passed away In tho early morning as she was considered to be much improved im-proved and out of all danger. Mrs. Hillyard lias been ailing for more than a year, suffering from a cancer. The cancer has been recently removed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday. Satur-day. Parley Chambers left for Chicago this week to resume his studies at the Chicago Dental school. Our town Is growing to be so attractive attrac-tive that people are kept busy looking at the improvements and pretty things und thus far three men have run Into telephone poles Too bad we did not see the glorious future of our town and insist that all pries be put on the side of streets Instead of being strung down the middle ot the road. Mrs. Afton Hunt of California is here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Miles. Messrs. and Mesdames C. J. Plowman, Plow-man, C. O. Kearl, Robert Griffiths and Bishop Miles, Bishop .Winn, Mrs. Powers, Pow-ers, T. C. Cragun, Mrs. Cantwell, Mrs. Hunt, Ethel Bingham and Leonard Miles were all conference visitors in Salt Lake tho past weak. Mrs. Joseph Wood of Solyer, Idaho, Is visiting her old home and friends. Miss Lllla White Is slnglngthe Illustrated Illus-trated songs and LoVbn Cragun Is the pianist at the Electrio theatre this week. Mrs. Thomas Woolford of Alberta, Canada, is visiting friends here. She reports good crops in their section this year. Mrs. Woolford, until recently, was a resident here. Mrs. May Richardson and Eliza Cantwell arc spending the week at Preston. Our schools are all well filled and in a prosperous condition. Mrs. James Cragun received word on Sunday of the serious illness of her brother, Wlllard Holladay, who was operated upon for appendicitis at the noly Cross hospital, Salt Lake. His many friends hope for a speedy recovery. re-covery. A missionary program will be given In tho tabernacle on Sunday evening for Henry Hanson, who leaves October Octo-ber 14, for Scandinavia. An excellent program has been prepared' and a full house should be present. Miss Maggie Pitcher of Trenton is attending high school here this year. James Mack of Ogden was a visitor In our town this week. Dr. Klrkwood has purchased the Sam Roskelley property on South Main and will bring his family here to reside. |
