Show The Smurth-waite Smurth-waite Funeral Uunfortunate Boy Laid to Rest at Wellsville. John Arnold Smurthwaite, fourteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alf Smurtwaite, kilfed by it lie accidental discharge of his gun Thanksgiving day, was buried buri-ed at Wellsville Sunday nftcr-noou. nftcr-noou. The funeral services, held in the meeting house, was filled to overflowing with sympathizing friends, and genuine, grief was manifest in the tears shed as the service proceeded. Tho speakers on this very sad occasion were Pres. W. C. Parkinson, W. K. Burnham and S. B. Mitton of! Logan, Lo-gan, Win. II. Maughan and Bishop Bish-op E. R. Owen, prayer being offered of-fered by Patriarch RobertBaxter, and Biship Dunn of College ward. The choir sang at four different times, rendering appropriate musiu very beautifully. The Bailey Bail-ey brothers, cousins of the unfortunate unfor-tunate boy, sang "In the Sweet by and Bye." Floral offerings were many and beautiful, these proving a generous testimonial to the standing of Smurthwaite boy and the family. Wellsville as a whole mourned with the bereft parents aiid other relatives and deepest sympathy goes opt .to the mother, especially, to whom .the shock lias been terrible. Following Follow-ing the service the boy's remains were taken to the cemetery and then in the presence of a large assemblage as-semblage laid to rest. Pall bearers bear-ers were cousins of the deceased. |
