Show SUNDAY SCHOOL JAMBOREE. Editor Leader. - Our Sunday school jubilee came off Aug. (August) 14th, as previously announced. It was well attended by old and young. The reports given by the different superintendents show a great lack of interest by some parents in not attending to their children's progress in the schools. One thing wanted in our different settlements is a good set of musical books. Heretofore the choir leader was supposed to furnish all books free for the advancement of the singing. Some "small souled" individuals think the leader ought to bear all expenses in relation to this matter. They forget that we also have obligations to meet and that time is money to us as well as more fortunate individuals. One thing I am confident of and that is this. When our bishops and the people generally are alive to the importance of improvement in this direction, our meetings and Sabbath schools will be better attended than at present. Wishing success to the Leader and all the friends of progress, I remain your brother in the gospel. Wm. (William) Powell. |
