Show NEWS OF THE WORLD. Dory - Fuels, London, Aug. (August) 25. - The dory, Bath City, which has arrived at Falmouth, lost her only ??? overboard a week ago. The crew have not had dry clothes on them since they left America. The boat is very cranky. They intend to go to Hamburg, and ??? at Atlantic Bay. Blown Up By A Boiler. Campbellsville, Ky. (Kentucky) Aug. (August) 23 - The boiler at Morley's sawmill exploded, killing Henry Guiney, engineer, mortally wounding: Jack Fletcher and Col. (Colonel) Clark, and seriously injuring several others. Cause, sulpher water in use. ???First six lines unreadable??? Negro ??? by a party of the leading citizens. Bud Saxon, one of the leaders was also captured. He revealed in his confession the plot to kill the ??? and gave much other information and was then hanged. Another Negro was then arrested and hanged. An hour later Sam Saxon, another Negro leader surrendered and was placed in jail. The sheriff was overpowered and Saxon, with a Negro criminal, were taken out and their bodies filled with buckshot. Charles Delano, one of the gang will be tried tomorrow. As numerous friends and relatives have expressed a determination to rescue him, an appeal has been made to the governor for aid. A Fiend: Hannibal, Mo. (Missouri), Aug. (August) 22. - The fourth attempt within a few weeks was made today to wreck a passenger train on the Wabash, near Salem, Ills. (Illinois). The fiend, who is supposed to be a discharged conductor named Haughlin, was seen tying a rail to the track. The train was stopped and he was pursued but escaped to the woods. The same place has been selected for each attempt, as it is favorable for a bad accident. Retribution: Paris, Ky. (Kentucky), Aug. (August) 24 - Yesterday M. H. Current killed the notorious desperado Jas. (James) S. Offut, his brother-in-law. Offut had threatened Current's life with a shotgun before his very door, and had thrown Mrs. Current into a spasm and caused her death. This was Current's retribution. |
