Show THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE. On Friday last, the Logan Dramatic Company, gave the long expected performance, in the afternoon and evening, to crowded houses. In the evening, especially, a large audience assembled and probably never has the hall been better filled. The drama, "Foiled," was played with much spirit and but a few hitches. Some of the characters were well sustained and the personations would have done credit to more experienced performers; while with others there was a painful lack of preparation, and a failure to properly understand the spirit of their representations. We commend the lady performers for their careful study, and for their natural and graceful acting. Miss Haws, who performed the leading part, astonished even her most sincere admirers, by her artistic rendition; and Miss Neff and Mrs. Meley worthily received the plaudits of the audience. We can only say, for the gentlemen who took parts; that they performed fully up to the average with amateur actors. There was, however, too much tameness exhibited by some; while there was unnatural force given by others. But, following the drama was a dance by La Petite Meley. The little maiden was as graceful as possible in her motions; and her steps were charming and varied She became at once a favorite with everybody present; and there is every reason to believe that on her reappearance she will still further grow in the estimation of the public. Taken altogether the performance was a decided success; and all who attended expressed their great satisfaction. |
