Show ACCIDENT NEEDS ATTENTION. An accident occurred at the Union Mills last Saturday, by which a horse was so badly injured that it was necessary to take his life to prevent suffering. It appears that Mr. R. Henderson of the 5th ward had his team and wagon in front of the building by the platform; and wishing to back the wagon a little, he took hold of the bridle bits to do so. The horses not being very gentle, retreated too far, the wagon being thus precipitated down a steep embankment six or eight feet with the result above mentioned. The wagon sustained no injury except that the reach was broken. We understand that this is not the first occurrence of the kind which has happened at the same place. If the owners of the property were to have a railing placed at the edge of the bank to prevent further accidents, it would be to their interest as well as that of their patrons. |
