A big government wagon, with triple box, was secured; and to this were attached six spanking horses. When they reached Logan, the cold had seriously contracted their size; but they were big enough. They walked into the P???, and two small clerks and a newspaper reporter scurried away in terror like mice before an army of ???? to measure them, which was accepted; and it was found that the youngest boy measured six feet and four inches. According to statement their united weight was nearly 1,500 pounds. Herewith follows their names: Jesse Lloyd, Charley Mo?lander, Ellis Salisbury, Dan W. Stoddard and Jas. [James] B. Stoddard. The reason why they did not bring a crowd of tall boys was because the big youths of the town would not ride? in the wagon for fear of cramping their legs. |
