Show CHURN SUIT. A few days ago there arose a dispute in Weston between a Mr. Hoopes and his son-in-law. The former charged the latter with having stolen a churn. He was therefore arrested on a charge of petty larceny. The defendant appalled for counsel, which he obtained from Oxford. The case was prosecuted vigorously for some time, and at length the defendant was found guilty and fined $60 and costs, which amounted to somewhere near $20. Hoopes went off with the churn, and the young man went off well churned. |
