Show THE EXCURSION. The excursion under the auspices of the Tenth Ward Brass Band which left Salt Lake on the morning of the 13th inst. was a grand success. At about 2 o'clock on that day, a train of sixteen cars laden with nearly 600 excursionists rolled into Logan. For a considerable length of time after, the depot grounds presented a busy scene. Friends were greeting friends, teams were starting off laden with people, and a constant stream of pedestrians went pouring up town. During the afternoon the band played some of their splendid music on the streets, and in the evening they rode to Providence where a grand ball was held in Providence Hall. The ball was a very enjoyable affair, and was not too crowded. At intermission, the band, and a few others sat down to an elegant supper at the residence of M. M. Hammond, Esq. After the ball was over, the band returned to Logan and put up at the Cache Valley House.

On Thursday forenoon the band gave serenades at the residences of some of our leading citizens, and in the afternoon a grand ball was given in the Bowery. But a comparatively small portion of the excursionists went to Franklin. |
