Show HYRUM NOTES. (From our regular correspondent.) R. R. HANDS. Quite a number of our men have come home from the Oregon short line having finished their first contract. They will return this week and take another contract on the desert. They will have to haul water nearly seven miles for themselves and teams. The tanks are being made in Logan. SPECIAL ELECTION. On Monday the 22d a special election was held in this Precinct. 250 electors voted "Constitution, yes." None voted "no." There was a lively interest taken in the election. "Mormons" and "Gentiles" voted alike. Hans Thorsen Esq. was around all day with horse and buggy bringing the feeble and sickly to the polls. The election of Monday was the liveliest that I have seen here. All were interested, Gov. I. N. Lee, (the blind man) came for the purpose of staying all day, as he stated, to see that the election was conducted properly. |
