Welchman, of Smithfield, sends us a synopsis of a very interesting lecture delivered there under the auspices of the elders' quorum, on the evening of March 7th, upon the subject: "Importance of the Written Word," which we would be glad to give to our readers did space permit. Elder Thomas Smith was the lecturer. Elder Moroni Price will lecture there on the evening of March 21st, under the same auspices. Just Arrived At P. A. A young man of Logan named James Parry, aged 16, while wrestling with another boy on Sunday evening last, had the misfortune to break his leg about two inches above the knee. It was rather a bad break. Dr. (Doctor) Ormsby set the limb, and the patient is now doing first-rate. Notice. There will be a meeting of the stockholders of the United Order of Smithfield city, held at the usual place of meeting in Smithfield city, U. M. at 7 p.m. on Monday, the 11th of April, A.D. 1881, for the purpose of adopting or rejecting the following proposed amendment to the articles of association, viz: First. It is proposed to repeal article one and substitute therefore the following, "the name of this corporation shall be the Smithfield Manufacturing and Mercantile Institution. Second. It is proposed to amend article five, by striking out all after the words "thousand dollars," and inserting in lieu thereof, the following: "which shall be divided into six thousand (6,000) shares of five dollars ($5) each. Third. It is proposed to amend article seven, by striking out the words, "on November," and inserting in lieu thereof the following: "after the fifteenth of February." Fourth.
