Show obituary EDITOR jot joi eai E ai it becomes our painful duty duly to record the death of our esteemed friend sister martha molen grant who departed this lifo life march 15 J after a severe illness of two years of dropsy the subject of this sketch was the youngest daughter of tesso jesse and lurany L irany I 1 molen being the thirteenth child born june 12 1817 in ia the state of iowa while hilo her parents were on their way to utah she arrived in salt lake valley in october of the same year thus thua being one of the number of that honored band of pioneers she early in life became acquainted quain ted with grief fur for at the age of six hix years both parents died and she was left an orphan and what is a remarkable kable coincidence lier her mother di d on the same sam due edite as her daughter but forty five eira previously sly after lier her pi pL rents death she with the rest of the family movel moved to lehi utah county remained there until then movell moved to cache valley located with her brother broiher S 11 molen at hyde park and there made the tha acquaintance of david grant and the following year she became his wife since that time her lire life has been one of self denial and pure devotedness vol vot edness to her husband and family she was the mother of rine cine children six survive her and threw three preceded her to the great beyond ehe ha was a faithful and act active ive member in the relief society and a teacher in the sunday school for several years in her character was embodied tho the grand traits of honesty sublimity integrity and virtue somewhat of a rei retiring iring disposition kind and indulgent to her family withal seeking continually for thair welfare she governed more by y example than by precept through all her sickness she murmured not sister grant believed in deeds not words and like a silent ilent blessing showered substantial gifts and aid where most needed the fu ner al ser were held i in the meeting neeLing house bouse on the lath dinst the speakers were elders george beamous Se amous thomas duce bih bishop op wm hyde of logan W G reese of benson and bichop C G aide all testified to the inestimable character pass possessed essed by the deceased it was the largest funeral witnessed in this place for some time thus lived and died one of eves eved faithful daughters whose whole life has been spent in keeping the precepts of the gospel her husband has had lost a devoted wife her children a a loving mother and all a sincere and true friend rest in in peace yours respectfully if W V hyde park march 19 1898 |
