is that this was an exclusively Republican meeting” Democratic Chairman Pat Shea said Thursday “If it was a affair involving state legislative matters it would be OK But this was a strictly partisan county torneys allows them to do anything they want with narcotics cases he said Riggs did not accuse any particular county attorney of excessive plea bargaining But he said rarely do prosecutors in any jurisdiction press for the maximum penalty of 15 years applicable to those charged and convicted under Utah’s habitual criminal law at- Riggs also said he opposes legalizing marijuana and other narcotics He said drug abuse is tearing apart the nation with some Utah children in the second grade using marijuana Evans ponders remap BOISE (UPI) — Gov John Evans is pondering the latest businessmen and community leaders the Salt Lake International Airport Authority has asked Western Airlines to lower fares between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles The fares have doubled since competing airlines stopped flying the route two years ago Glen Stewart Western's vice president and project director in Salt Lake City said the airline will consider and respond to the authority’s request But he said the company feels the 9200 coach fare is in line with routes of similar length throughout the country Stewart said the main reason for the increase was that fares offered two years ago were artificially low due to competition The two airlines that competed for the area PSA in 1982 and United Airlines in 1983 are no longer in the market because their fares were too low he added Fruit
