Receive Diplomas The Loveliest Flowers of All PAGE FOUR J. 1r, y TEMPLE CEREMONY MAKES BRIDE OF GRADUATE A lovely May bride and "sweet girl graduate" all within the same week is the former Olive Morris who became the bride of Eldon Conder Wednesday in the Salt Lake temple. Two hundred friends and relatives rela-tives attended the reception giv- j en the young couple in Firmage hall Thursday night by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee A. Morris. Mr. and Mrs. George conder are the parents of the groom. The bride was a picture in the traditional white slipper satin with a finger length veil caught to a crown of seed pearls. She held a bouquet of gardenias, pink and white carnations with pink satin streamers. Mrs. Harlan Hilton, Provo, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Her gown was pink. The brides maids, Ina Morris, a sister; Margaret Conder, the groom's sister, Joan Curtis and Ruth Pawlowski, were attired in pale blue. The attendants wore corsages of pink and white carnations car-nations and gardenias. Little Carol Namelka and Stanley Morris Mor-ris carried flowers. Harlan Hilton, Hil-ton, Provo, was best man. The bride's mother wore navy blue and the groom's mother pale green. Their corsages were of roses. The bridal party stood before tall candelabra flanked with baskets of spring flowers. G. Easton Brown was master of ceremony for the program which included a vocal solo "Because," "Be-cause," Glen Burgess,- violin duet, Eva Young and Maxine Binch; vocal duet "Just Because You're You", Mary Peck and Wendell Strong; reading, Colleen Moss; original toast, Mrs. Bert Timpson; vocal solo "When Your Hair Has Turned To Silver", Dean Perkins, Orem. Dancing was enjoyed during the evening and refreshments were served, with Mrs. Ruth Namelka in charge. Assisting in serving were Myrtle Morris, Beu-lah Beu-lah Fraughton, Margaret Paw lowski, Colleen Singleton, andlfreshment table. Mrs. Chris Merma Proctor. Mrs. Leonard Young was in charge of the gift arrangement, The young couple will reside in American Fork, having purchas ed a home in Columbia Village. Arizonian Claims Am. Fork Bride A springtime marriage united a popular couple, Vera Bean and Harbon B. Heap Thursday. The rites were performed in the Salt Lake temple by President Joseph Fielding Smith. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don H. Bean of this city and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Heap of St. Johns, Arizona. The young couple received 175 friends and relatives at an in formal reception held Thursday night in Firmage hall. The bride's attendants were Mrs. Paul Baker of Price and Mrs. Lawrence McDaniel of this city. The best .( man was the groom's brother, v Norman Heap of St. Johns. In the receiving line also were the parents of the bride. The new Mrs. Heap was attired in turquoise moire taffeta and wore a corsage of talisman roses. Mrs. Baker was in rose silk and Mrs. McDaniel in figured rose solk. Mrs. Bean ,wore black figured silk. Their corsages were gardenias and roses. W. O. Nelson announced the numbers of a short program con sisting of a vocal solo "Because" by Gareth Seastrand; a violin solo "I Love You "Truly", LaRae Batchelor; a reading "Brotherly Love" by Mrs. Junior N. Williamson, William-son, and a vocal duet "Serenade of the Bells", Louise Duffin and Joleen Grant. Mrs. Owen G. Humphries was accompanist. Large baskets of iris, peonies, snow balls and spirea were ef fectively used in decorating the hall. A lovely arrangement of purple and lavender iris and lilies centered cent-ered the lace cloth covered re- Bowers was in charge of the refreshments, re-freshments, assisted in serving by Marva and Rhea Bowman, Marlene Sabey, Doris Dickerson, Muriel ace and Bonnie Crofts. Shirley May Chesnut was in charge of the gift room assisted by Betty Mae Dunkley and Erlene Schreiber. The couple leave the first of the week for St. Johns to reside for the summer at least. MATRON HONORED ON BIRTHDAY Mrs. Joseph Nlcholes, whose 82nd birthday occurred Monday was the honored guest at a delightful de-lightful family party Sunday at the home of her grandchildren, Dr. and Mrs. Milton T. Rigby, Salt Lake City. Mrs. Docia Nich-oles, Nich-oles, mother of Mrs. Rigby, was assisting hostess. The home was artistically decorated deco-rated with roses. At 5:30 a buffet buf-fet supper was served on beau tiful lawns of the Rigby home which are surrounded by honey suckle and shurbs. The birthday cake was cut and served by the honored guest while the family sang "Happy Birthday", Mrs. Nicholes received many lovely gifts and messages came from grandchildren and other relatives in California, Washington, New York, St. Louis, and Provo. Attending were Dr. and Mrs. P. M. Kelly, Mrs. Joseph K. Nich oles, Dr. and Mrs. Henry J. Nicholes, Nich-oles, Mrs. Max Nicholes and three children, Miss Joyce Nicholes, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. F. Rulon Nicholes, American Forki; Mr and Mrs. Victor Nicholes and sons, Thomas and Ronnie, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Carlquist and son David, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Nicholes and son Ray, Mrs. Sarah Brown, Miss Beth. Nicholes, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. C. E. White and son David, Centerville, Mrs. Fern S. Nicholes, Logan, and the Rigby children, Fae and Douglas. Clubs and Socials Annual canvon party of the high school faculty was held at the south fork in American Fork canyon Tuesday afternoon. Visiting Visit-ing and games followed a bounteous bount-eous dinner. K. J. Bird and Luther Giddings had charge of arrangements. Junior Ladies Literary Club Talent Night, the closing meeting for the Junior Ladies Club was held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. R. G. Gardner Gard-ner with Mrs. Ersel Fagan assisting. assist-ing. Readings were given by Mrs. E. Vernon Holindrake Jr. and Mrs. Harold Thoolin; Mrs. George Hackford and Mrs. Garth Roun-dy, Roun-dy, accompanied by Miss Nadine Monson, sang a duet; Mrs. Earl Kelly read some of the choice selections from her scrapbook, and Miss Jean Holmstead gave a humorous selection. Plans were made and Mrs. G. Easton Brown was appointed chairman for a summer canyon party at which the ladies husbands will be guests. Refreshments were served serv-ed and the balance of the evening spent, playirlg cards. Mrs. Mae Kirk of Salt Lake is visiting here this week with her sister, Mrs. Joseph L. Dunkley. Graduates of the Alpine stake LDS seminary, 55 in all, received their diplomas in exercises neia in the Alpine stake tabernacle Developed around the theme "The Youth of Zion on the Way to Perfection" a program of edu cational and spiritual interest was given. Phases of the tneme were treated in short talks by students and reflected in the choice of musical selections rend ered. President Howard S. McDonald of the Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, in his address to the graduates, gradu-ates, huilt his talk around the life of Karl G. Maeser, who as a young German convert to the church, gave up a future of brill iant promise in his native land and endured much for the sake of the gospel he loved better than his life. t Milestones along the rugged path of this revered educator were told by President McDonald as he paralleled incidents in his life with those of the young peo ple of today who strive for high eternal goals. . The graduates were presented by Principal E. Ray Gardner to Delbert H. Chipman, of the Alpine Al-pine stake presidency, representative represen-tative of the stake board of education, edu-cation, who awarded the certificates. The building was beautifully decorated with basket and bou quet arrangements of peonies, tulips,, iris and bridal wreath. The exercises were well attended. Sterling Burch Arrives In Lebonon Friday Mrs. Claud Burch re ceived an airmail letter from her son Sterling saying he had arrived at Beirut, Lebonon, had met his mission president and in two weeks would be sent to Aleppo, Syria, where he will labor as a missionary for the LDS church. Mr. Burch reported that his ship docked just two days after the firing ceased m the Arab- Jewish conflict, and that had it been on scheduled time would have arrived in the midst of the battle.
