The customary parallel strips of yellow paint designate the walk, with large letters on the highway calling attention to the approach of the intersection from east and west. Road signs at the side of the highway bearing the inscription inscrip-tion "bchool-Crossing" also warn the motorist. The cross-walk was made to encourage children from the east and south of the intersection to cross the' highway at this point ratner tnan to eo to and from school by way of the more hazardous haz-ardous route which takes them over the bridge near Second East. This too is a bad area for pedes trians and calls for inmrovement. Jarsd D. Keller of the council was assigned the task of having the safety measure taken at Third East. Local union 57, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Work-ers has renewed its contract which covers wages, hours and working conditions, it is announced an-nounced by J. I. Nichols, union business agent. Approximately 1,100 Utah Power Pow-er & Light Company employes who are members of the union, were granted a flat $20 per month wage increase, Mr. Nichols said, while other provisions of the contract remained the same.
