Mrs. James Gottfredson Jr. (Faye Hutchings) and little son, James III, of Caliente, Nevada, are visiting here with Mr. and Mrs. William Skinner. Mrs. Lena W. Woods of Ogden is visiting in Lehi during the week with her brothers, W. L. and R. B. Worlton. Miss Fay Wanlass, who has been visiting her brothers in Rodeo and San Pablo, California, arrived home Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. U. A. Jones of Salt Lake City spent Sunday afternoon af-ternoon with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wanlass. Mrs. Dale Anderson and children chil-dren of Salt Lake City are spending spend-ing this week in Lehi with Mrs. Anderson's mother, Mrs. Matilda Phillips. Mrs. Helen Allison and family of Salt Lake City visited in Lehi during the Roundup celebration with Mrs. Allison's father, William Will-iam Taylor, and other relatives. Miss Carolyn Patton, who spent a few days here as a guest of En sign Don Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Urban Johnson, left Tuesday Tues-day to return to her home in Buffalo, New York. Mrs. Lucille Winkler and chil dren of Bluebell have been visiting visit-ing in Lehi during the past week with Mrs. Winkler's sister, Mrs. Luther Gale', and with Mrs. Arvil O. Stone. Miss Donna Hadfield left Thursday for Seattle, Washington, Washing-ton, to train at a naval hospital. She completed the first part of her training at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City. Bruce Gale is visiting here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Gale. Bruce is employed at Moses Lake, Washington. Mrs. Dorothy Ivers returned home Saturday evening from a ten-day business trip to Los Angeles, California. Making the trip by plane, Mrs. Ivers reports a very enjoyable visit. Mrs. Marion L. Wanlass and daughter, Dorlene, who have been visiting the past two weeks in Lehi with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wanlass, and in Joseph, Utah, with her parents, are leaving to day for their heme in Rodeo, California. Miss Bareen Gray, who is employed em-ployed at Ogden, spent Sunday in Lehi with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gray, returning return-ing to her home in Salt Lake City Monday morning. Week-end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Gammon were Mrs. Fern Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. Theron Reynolds and two daughters, daugh-ters, and Mr. and Mrs. Harris Vincent and two sons, all of Salt Lake City. Miss Fern Gammon, who is spending the summer with her grandmother, also came and spent a few days with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ruel L. Wanlass and family of Rodeo, California, arrived in Lehi Monday evening for a two weeks' visit with Mr. ! Wanlass' parents, Mr. and Mrs. I J. C. Marriages GATES-CARLTON Of special interest to their . friends is the marriage of Lieu-; tenant Leo Carlton of Lehi and: Miss Lois Gates, daughter of Mr. ! and Mrs. William H. Gates of Escalente, which took place June 14 in Ely, Nevada. The ceremony was performed by Bishop A. Mor-ley Mor-ley of the LDS church. The young couple spent ten days on a honeymoon and onj their return to Lehi Mrs. Julia Carlton, mother of the groom, entertained at a small reception June 29, in their honor. The entertaining rooms were lovely with roses. Thirty guests were entertained and enjoyed delicious delici-ous refreshments. Lieut. Carlton arrived home June 8 from overseas where hej had been a German prisoner i from June 9, 1944, to April 29, 1 1945. He left for overseas April 10, 1944, and on his 13th mission i down. He spent several months at Stalus 3 and was later moved to Moosburg, near Munich, where he was liberated. Lloyd R. Carlton F 1c, a brother, broth-er, is making his fourth trip across the Pacific and has participated par-ticipated in several naval battles. WEDDING ANNOUNCED Lehi friends will be interested to learn of the marriage of Miss Beth Smith, daughter of George H. and the late Christie Sharp Smith of Lehi, to Fred Edvalson of Ogden. The wedding cere-Imony cere-Imony is being performed at 8:30 j p. m. this evening at the home I of the bride's brother, Lewis I Smith, 268 C Street, in Salt Lake jCity, in the presence of close j family members. The bride is a member of the 1943 graduating class of the Lehi 1 high school, and has been train-I train-I ing as a .cadet nurse .at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City since Ithat time. i The groom is a Pharmacist's Mate in the U. S. Navy, stationed at Seattle, Washington. After a short wedding trip, the bride will resume her work at the . hospital, and the groom will re-i re-i turn to his base. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Krenka of Arthur, Nevada, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, daugh-ter, Miss Beverly Krenka, to Paul fa. Julian, son of Mrs. Alvah Van Wagoner of this city. The marriage mar-riage has been planned for the near future. Miss Krenka is a graduate of the Lehi high school, where she served as vice-president of the student body during her senior year, and as active president after the president was called into in-to the service. A member of the Bosters, Home Economics club, mixed chorus, basketball and track squads, she was an active participant in student affairs. Mr. Julian was a member of the football and basketball teams at the Lehi high school, and sane with the opera chorus. He was to have been a senior student this year, but received his call to active duty in the U. S. Navy Hospital Corps this week, and is based at San Diego, Calif. Garrett, teacher of agricultural agri-cultural classes at the Lehi high school, and advisor to the local chapter of the Future Farmers of America, attended a convention of ag teachers in Springville, where problems pertaining to FFA work were discussed. Wing are leaving Friday for Santa Fe, New Mexico, where they will visit their son, Cpl. A. Ralph Wing, who is seriously ill in an army ; hospital there. Cpl. Wing be-! be-! came ill while in France. Later ' he was sent to England, arriving in the United States a few weeks ago. Miss LaPriel Goodwin, who has been visiting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Wis-consin, for the past few months, arrived in Lehi the latter part of the week. She was accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Austin Gud-mundsen, Gud-mundsen, and two children. Miss Betty Logsdon of Lehi, a sophomore student at the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University of Provo, has been named on the spring quarter honor roll of that insti- t u t ion, representing sixteen credit hours of straight "A" grades. Miss Logsdon is majoring major-ing in the field of business. A graduate of the Lehi high school, where she was active in student affairs, Miss Logsdon received re-ceived her diploma in 1943. Active Ac-tive in student affairs, she was given the Athenian Award for scholarship and participation. At the university she is a member of the Fidelas social unit; Lamba Delta Sigma, a fraternity of L. D. S. students; and the symphony orchestra. She recently was elected secretary of Phi Theta Chi, national honorary soroity of Business women. sne is a daughter of Mrs. Eliza Logsdon of this city.
